Food // Honest Burgers, Notting Hill, London

One thing I really, like really, love is a burger. I’m even known by my friends for my love for a McDonalds. But there’s something about a juicy burger, piled high with cheese, bacon and loads of sauce that I just love. So, when we passed Honest last weekend I knew we had to call in. Honest Burgers aren’t available up North just yet but I’ve seen them on Instagram before, so I thought why not. Plus my Mum loves a burger too, so I was in great company! The shop, is that the right word?, is small but so busy. With only a couple of burgers to choose from we were both torn between the cheese burger with stilton, which sounded amazing or the one we both actually went for – the beef burger with cheese, bacon and onion jam. It was amazing. All burgers come with rosemary chips too, which I liked as normally you choose your chips separately It was just so good and I really hope Honest Burgers comes to Liverpool …

Fashion // Trench Coats & Coloured Houses

Now, I never really do fashion ‘ootd’ posts as they aren’t always very me. Plus I don’t have Instagram-worthy locations in or near my home so I just do me, which is food and beauty. But whilst I was down in London at the weekend, the weather was lovely, I liked my outfit and the whitewash and coloured houses were just too beautiful not to take a couple of pictures in front of.  I didn’t really know what to wear as the weather up North can sometimes be very different to the weaather in London. It was forecast light rain (which we didn’t see at all) so I went with a warm yet casual outfit – plus my brolly was in my bag so I was prepared for rain! Travel // Portobello Road Market, Notting Hill, London

Whenever Virgin announce their train ticket sales, my Mum and I are all over it, as we love our twice annual visit to London. Every time, we try to visit somewhere new and on Saturday we lucked out with the weather and headed over to Notting Hill. I’ve never been to Portobello Road before and we love to visit one of the cities many different markets every time we’re down South. Notting Hill in general was such a beautiful area to visit and the coloured houses and shop fronts looked beautiful in the sunshine.    We wondered along looking at the different stalls, selling everything from antiques to the most delicious-looking street food. We couldn’t pass the doughnut stall without picking up a HUGE custard doughnut each – which we later demolished in the sunshine in Hyde Park!    Halfway down the market stalls, I spotted a familiar pink logo along the row of shops – The Hummingbird Bakery! So naturally we popped inside and oogled every last cupcake trying to decide which to try …

Travel // London Calling

So, I’ve been absent from this blog for a couple of weeks due to ya know, life but I’m back a brand new post! On Saturday my mum and I ventured down to London for the day. We picked the perfect day as the weather hit 30 degrees – great for discovering Camden, Borough Market and a quick trip to Oxford Street! Anyway, enough gabbing for this post….I’ll let the pictures do the taking!

Travel: Discovering Shoreditch

Last Sunday I boarded a Virgin pendalino and made my way down south for the day. Since finishing university 5 years ago it’s becoming harder and harder to gather all the girls in one place as we are so spread out. So we decided what better than a day spent in the big smoke?  We decided to head over to Shoreditch for the day. The sunshine came out to play and the weather was gorgeous for an afternoon of discovering Brick Lane, delicious cocktails in East London bars and a glass of Pimms on the embankment as the sun set.  Pretty sweet right?           Once we hit Shoreditch we found ourselves inside the Old Spitalfield Market. Food stalls galore, this is where we started to wish we hasn’t already eaten earlier at a Mexican restaurant!  And that was our day in the city in a nutshell. Now I better start thinking about train tickets for my next trip….

LFW returns to the city….

London, the capital home to Oxford Street, Spitalfields Market and Covent Garden, yet next month fashion week will be gracing the capital once again. The week of the year that showcases some of the UK’s upcoming hottest trends for SS15 and shows exactly what we’ll be wearing when the sunshine begins to make a comeback next year… One of my favourite parts of #LFW is getting the goss on who is sat FROW, whether it be Harry Styles, one of my girl crushes and fave ex-Alouder, Nicola Roberts or Grimmy geggin’ in with all his showbiz pals, daaaahling. It’s always fun to see who’s rubbing shoulders with the fashion elite and editors alike. I’m sure many bloggers will too be making the pilgrimage down for the event with brands making up the scenery at Somerset House and street style snaps being taken showcasing the wildest outfit choices and boldest use of colour in clothing. That said and speaking of future fashions, there are a few trends I’m currently coveting for the season ahead. Autumn signals …

London Calling

Sometimes its nice to mix things up a little by spending the day in a new place and exploring and yesterday was one of those kinda days. The girls I lived and spent most of my time with at uni hadn’t seen each other, as the four of us, since February and with one of the girls heading of to Japan in two weeks, we knew a catch up was long over due. Living in different parts of the country, I suggested a day in London. Despite the train journey from up North, I love spending time in the Capital as its still such an exciting place to visit with so much to see and do. With time being of the essence, after a lovely catch up in the pub, obvs, we headed to Camden. I’ve never been to Camden, but always wanted to go to the see the infamous Camden Locks sign and the markets. It is such a lively place and didn’t disappoint. I took advantage of my day out and unashamedly acted …
