Gigs: The Showhawk Duo/ Death Row Diner

A couple of Fridays ago, after many months of waiting, the boy and I took the day off work to go watch The a Showhawk Duo, do their thing. They’re an acoustic, 2-man band who cover rock, jazz and best of all, 90s dance tracks. They were playing at the Bierkeller in Liverpool and it was quite simply, fab! The atmosphere was ace and they really got the crowd going – so much so the place was up out of their seats and stood on the benches dancing along! We decided to try out the Death Row Diner beforehand. A dark, moody atmosphere teamed with boozy cocktails and yummy food, perfect right? I went for the buttermilk fried chicken burger with sweet potato fries whilst the Mr had the sirloin steak. We really couldn’t fault the food. Great service too, with the waiters advising me when I couldn’t choose between a handful of different dishes! It was a great day and I would reccomend checking out both The Showhawk Duo and the Death Row Diner …

Cocktail Hour

On Thursday I made a trip to one of my favourite cities, Manchester, for the Jessie Ware gig at Sound Control. I love gigs in manc as it means I get to book the day off work, go for a lovely meal and have a coupla cocktails!  Oh and celeb spot as we saw Lydia Rose Bright from towie launching something fashion-related in the Arndale. In a silver dress with a 20’s inspired hair-do she looked gorge. My fangirling is growing! On this particular trip I decided to treat myself to a new fooundation. I have been wearing Mac Studio Fix for a couple of years now but read so much about Estee Lauder Double Wear and wanted to try it. I got matched up at the Estee Lauder stand in Selfridges. The MA tried 3 shades on me and I settled on the dersert beige shade. As I am naturally very pale and I don’t tan or use bronzer! I got a free double ended Double Wear concealer and mascara as well which was nice. …

GA: The Return

So, I am an avid Girls Aloud fan and the press conference that took place last week and the announcement of the Greatest Hits tour pleased me greatly. I just love them, well mabes not Nadine after the revs I have read snippets of in Cheryl’s book (the ma is getting it me for crimbo) but I am just so excited that the girls are getting back together and I can’t get enough of their new single. Defo one I can dance round my bedroom to! I was lucky enough to nab two tickets on Friday for my lovely friend Natalie for next March. I know I have spoken about my love of live  music and attending gigs on here before and next year is shaping up to be a great year. Glastonbury 2013 tickets are in the bag after a very stressful Sunday morning a couple of weeks back and The Black Keys, Jessie Ware and Florence and the Machine are still to come this year! Anyone else heading to any great gigs this …

Wake me up when September ends..

I can’t believe it is September already. Where has this year gone?! It feels like only two minutees since I got my new job, now we are three months in, it seems like I have been there forever! Towards the end of last year, my work buddy and I made a pact to attend a gig/event each month or this year and it has been great knowing each month I have an exciting gig to look forward to! August was a quiet month but the year has shaped up well- January and February were quiet, boo, March was a trip to Florence and the Machine at the MEN and Laura Marling. April was a slow month. May was the biggie- Sydney and Oz to see my besties who are travelling over there. It was a year since they went, yesterday. Still can’t believe how fast it has gone.June was Coldplay and Marina and the Diamonds and in July we went to see Metric at the Ritz. The gigs I have yet to come are- Scissor Sisters …
