What’s in my festival bag?

Having posted last weekend about my trip to Parklife festival, and Glastonbury kicking off this Wednesday, I decided to do a post on my festival bag essentials designed to see me through the weekend. I first started going to festivals in 2010 when I visited the holy grail that is Glastonbury for the first time. It was an absolute game changer and now spending a weekend (or two) each summer in a massive field, with a can of warm cider and singing my little drunken heart out is a must. Over the past few years I have racked up visits to V Festival, Download and next month we shall be visiting T in the Park for the first time and these are just a couple of the essentials I need to see me through the weekend! First up, the bag. I always opt for an across the body bag with a zip and a couple of pockets. Easy to store everything away and you still have your arms free to dance away into the night. Green …

Festival Fun

The end of the festival season always signals summer coming to end. We have been blessed with amazing weather from June right through to this coming weekend, if the weather reports are to be believed and it didn’t disappoint this past weekend went I attended V Festival in Stafford on Saturday. Myself and Natalie who blogs over at Fairytales and  Unicorns headed down early Saturday morning with a McDonalds breakfast in our bellies and the hope that the weather report of rain was untrue and the sun would make an appearance. We stayed at The Old Orleton Inn in Wellington which was a short taxi ride away from Weston Park. The hotel was lovely- gorgeously decorated twin room with a en suite. Complete with colourful décor, soft cushions on the bed, complimentary tea and coffee and a flat screen tv. The hotel had a lovely garden which would have  been perfect to relax in if we had stayed a little longer. We arrived at Weston Park at around half 11 when gates opened and made our …

The ultimate festival look

The next event circled on my calendar is V Festival the weekend after next, and for the first time, I am yet to have my festival outfit sorted. We are only going for the day on the Saturday to Weston Park after being a little to unlucky to get Sunday tickets, so instead of being defeated, we went for the next best thing- the day before! Now, I have the obvious essentials ticked off my list as they just so happen to be left over from Glastonbury- hand sanitiser, tissues, toilet roll etc, but my outfit? Nope. However, because tents aren’t involved and we staying strictly 5* in a lovely guest house near by, its hair straighteners and immaculate  make-up all the way, which also means I can choose a nice outfit cos I’ll be home to a cosy bed and hot shower once Kings of Leon have done their thing! However, that aside these are my top picks for the outfit options on the day- weather depending of course! I have my fingers crossed …

Festival Fashion: Tie-dye made easy

Well, Glastonbury is a mere 2 weeks away and I am currently obsessed with the weather. The Met Office is currently my most visited website and I am praying each evening to God/Allah and Queen B for sunshine. All the magazines feature what to wear lists and which looks you should rock, however with rain potentially on the horizon, I need a fashion fix that can stand the test of time. And mud. And rain. Enter tie-dye. With a nod to the 70’s when you look back on Glastonbury pictures from times gone by, fashion took a back seat and it was all about the music. This is still the case, however looking good is still an essential seeing as all the pics from the weekend will be available for all and sundry to see on Facebook/Twitter, probably even here on my blog. That’s why this year I plan on attempting to channel the tie-dye trend. Its effortless, slightly vintage and easy to throw on. If you are planning on DIY tie-dye, men’s oversize tees …

Fail-Safe Fashion Fix

Is it just me or are we seriously due some sunshine now?! The on-off again snow season and dreaded rain is making me crave a little Vitamin D in the form of sunny skies and warmer weather. This year my birthday falls on the 2nd, yes 2nd we are lucky this year, May Bank Holiday and V Fest and Glastonbury are both in the dairy and firmly booked off work, so naturally my thoughts turn to updating my wardrobe for Summer. Obvs. As a self-confessed shopaholic I am trying my hardest not to buy new clothes and wear what I already have, but no one said anything about jewellery. Now, I am alls about rings and they are part of my going-out fail-safes, but I quite like the idea of dressing up an old t-shirt with a statement necklace or wearing bold earrings when I wear my hair up. So having a little nosey on Season Online Jewellery has defo got me thinking how I spruce up my old Summer clothes without looking like I’ve …

90’s Luxe- Dungarees

Dungarees- love ’em or loathe ’em they are making a comeback and I want me so trusty denims. With Glastonbury and V Fest happening this year, I really want a pair, even though they are totally unpractical. I mean the effort of having to undress so much in dreaded festival porta-loo’s and long-drops (yes, you read that correctly…..). I honestly think it stems from being obsessed with Clueless and loving Tai and how she rocked her dungarees! So, with shorts dungarees, dresses dunagrees, pinafore dresses and the full-length style available I think when payday rolls on round I will be making a little investment out of these River Island beauties!
