Fashion // DIY Denim Jacket with Dylon

Last year and creeping into this year, the embroidered trend is big business and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I loved the embroidered denim jacket trend last year and the pastel jackets on the high street so I decided to DIY my own jacket! Luckily Dylon Fabric Dyes got in touch around the same time to see if I would be interested in a collaboration, I jumped at it! The perfect denim The tricky part was finding the perfect denim jacket.  I knew in my head what I wanted but finding it was a whole new issue! After a quick scour of the internet, read Ebay I decided to head to the charity shops in my town hoping to find the perfect one. Luckily I stumbled across this jacket on a vintage stall in the town market hall! Colour  I knew I was after a pink toned jacket so I used the shade powder pink . It was so easy to use – literally just dampen your item of clothing; and pop in the drum …

Fashion // Winter Pastels

It’s been a while since I last posted an outfit post, but during a recent Sunday lunch trip, I managed to convince the boyo to take a couple of outfit snaps. January and February are the coldest months of them all so I’ve found myself reaching for my pink coat, over the knee boots and hat and scarf combo. I asked Darren to take these pictures during a trip into Liverpool on the weekend as we had a lunch reservation booked. Expect another post later in the week about that but I wanted to share these few snaps. I picked this coat up from the M&S sale a few weeks ago as it was a bargain at half price, considering it’s still very much ‘on trend’ and such fab quality. I’m still loving my huge blanket scarf from Primark that’s seen me through the last few winters and these over the knee boots are still a relatively new purchase, that I got from Just Fab in October/Nov time after spotting them on Instagram! It was …

House savings are taking presidence at the minute so clothes shopping has taken a back seat which means creating new outfits from the existing contents of my wardrobe!  In order to transition into Autumn and fall back in love with some old pieces, I’m trying to mix it up. And, taking daily pictures is the way forward right now.  Expect a weekly update on the outfits I’m wearing each week right here every Sunday.  Blue paisley blouse, tan sleeveless jacket and skinny jeans White Balmain t-shirt, blue skinny jeans and a coral boucle jacket Black and white striped top, black clottes and trainers Black top, green maxi skirt and tan suede jacket Pink jumper, black midi dress, stonewas denim jacket & red Zara bag

Fashion // Jewellery Love

I’ve always been an accessories kinda girl. In my teens it was bags, now in my late twenties it’s bags and jewellery.       Across the body bags that double up as a clutch are my evening go-to and this one is pretty darn easy to wear. In summer I love to go bright with my clothes so my jewellery is quite muted.  Black, silver and rose gold tones are my go-to’s.  What I’m wearing –  Across body bag – Primark Ring – ASOS Rose gold bracelet – Micheal Kors

OOTD // Summer Brights

As we all know blogging is a big business nowadays and I’m currently undergoing a bit of a career transition moving away from writing, so my blog is more of a creative outlet than ever before.  So I wanted to rebrand my site banner with pretty, colourful imagery and I set about this with a blog photoshoot. I have a bucket load of images to share so expect a couple more posts on this but I’m so happy with the images.  I chose an outfit that’s very me – bright & full of colour. And I’m ready to see what’s next for Ruth Writes!           What I’m wearing –  Cold-shoulder top – River Island Wide leg culottes – New Look Marble necklace – M&S Silver statement necklace – EBay Pink tote bag – Primark Cream clutch bag – Primark Sunglasses – RayBans Earrings – River Island

OOTD // How I Style Midi Dresses

Another day, another outfit post. I think I’m doing quite well in attempting to mould my boyfriend into an ‘Instagram Husband’ as he snapped these pictures on Sunday afternoon in the garden. However please forgive the fact I’ve got my hair up – I was *mildly* hungover when these were taken…    The weather was absolutely gorgeous so I decided to throw on this really, really old midi dress. I love the shape and it’s really lightweight making it perfect for work or just running errands – like we did on Sunday!  Midi dress – River Island Kimono – Primark Necklace – EBay Lace up sandals – Missguided

OOTD // Here Comes The Sun

Here it is, my second outfit post! I asked my boyfriend to take these pictures on Saturday afternoon before we went to a kids party.  I realised last week the brick wall in our garden is the perfect backdrop so I thought let’s give outfit posting another go!        Summer decided to make an appearance so this was my first summers outfit of the year!  After a root through my wardrobe I decided to wear –  New Look indigo jeans New Look khaki sleeveless top Primark dip dye kimono  Primark brown buckle flats  Rayban sunglasses

Fashion // ASOS Dupe Stan Smith Trainers

This year everyone seems to be going mad for trainers. I’ve always been a trainers kinda girl – generally wearing them with boyfriend jeans or to dress down a dress or a skirt.  So naturally I’m loving that it’s ‘in fashion’ to pretty much wear them daily. I ordered this black and white leopard-inspired print pair from ASOS last summer.  At the time I loved them cos of their skater-style look. However now I think ASOS was ahead of the times as they’re so similar to Adidas Stan Smiths – without the hefty price tag!

The Press Tent Blogger Event

Last Wednesday I was lucky enough to be invited down to The Press Tent blogger event held for Manchester bloggers. Hosted at the super cool Elevator arts space at the Great Northern on Deansgate, there was an amazing turn out, range of cool brands and a lovely personalised touch from the Press Tent gang. I got to chat to TwinFace jewellery, twins who make gorgeous pieces of jewellery at tier kitchen table and decided to turn it into a business. I loved the delicate gold and ivory pieces. One website to check out this summer!      It was lovely to spot Holly from Rock on Ruby on Ruby, who had a beautiful range of gym wear and make up bags featuring the slogans the brand is best known for.  And I turned it a little bit of a fangirl when I spotted Emma from What Emma Did. Having read her blog for many years it was so nice to say hello and have a nosey at her simply gorgeous boutique collection of dresses.           It was …
