Online // Sharing Blogger Love

When I began blogging, some crazy 6 years ago now, blogging was quite an underground hobby. Having initially started Musings of Ruby, as this very site was named back then due to my bright red hair, the blogging community was small, fierce and loyal across social media. But nothing compared to what it is now, and how it’s grown since so many blogs have developed over the years and come to fruition in the last 18 months. I’ve read and followed blogs and their owners for many years and can identify different stages of a bloggers life by their style at the time or even their blog layout. So this post is to join the masses of others that share the blogger love and I’m gonna shout about my long-time and somewhat new fave bloggers! My favourite bloggers vary in niche – from fashion, food to lifestyle. All covering the many different topics I love to read about! Hannah Gale I’ve been reading Hannah’s blog for the last maybe 2 years now (has she been …

The truth.

I feel like it’s been such a long time since I just sat down and wrote. Wrote about my day, my week, things I’ve been up to, plans for the coming weeks, or simply just how I’m feeling. My blog started over four years ago, documenting my life in limbo between finishing university, discovering I had failed a couple of modules and not graduating “when you’re supposed to”. I feel that quoted sentence sums up my life to date and in some instances it makes me sad. Comparing myself to others isn’t something I like to do very often because where is it going to get you? But in the most part it makes me proud. Proud of me, what I have achieved since that time I didn’t graduate “when you’re supposed to” and thankful for my lovely family and friends I have gained along the way. However, whilst four years may have passed and I have steered my way through, building a career, becoming something, I find myself kind of in the same situation. Not …

Ooh la laa: Paris part two

So its been a few weeks since I last blogged about my trip to the city of love and culture to see the final date of the fabulously amazing ‘On the Run’ tour, but as promised here’s my second post. Granted I was to busy dancing/singing/attempting to do the Crazy in Love ass shake to take many pictures, but here’s just a snapshot from our last few hours in Paris! Oh la laa!

My Dream Writer’s Space

When it comes to blog content, my inspiration for posts can never be pinned down to one ‘thing’. Articles I read in magazines, the newspaper, the Metro on the bus, news articles I catch on the 6 0’clock news. Conversations with friends, rediculous Facebook status updates, tweets that make me think. Having WordPress on my Blackberry is fantastic as it enables me to jot ideas down in drafts that I can always come back to later, but when it comes actually sitting down to write posts, I wish I had a desk, a study, a room to write if you will. I’ve wanted to write for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I asked for a typewriter for Christmas, and the day I opened it I was super excited. I re-wrote the old classics I grew up with, Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl and The Wizard of Oz. I dreamt of being an author and as I grew older that passion never faded. Studying Journalism at Uni taught me alot and working …

‘Live, Laugh, Love’

It’s been a while since I offered a little life-update on here so here goes…. Since April I have been working for Matalan as Online Copywriter which is a job I absolutely love. It’s amazing to work within the E-Commerce dept of such a busy team and see the team grow. Plus the added bonus of looking at oh-so pretty clothes and getting spending-envy on a daily basis is kinda cool. I have had my space on the inter-web now for over two years and it still surprises how far the blogging community has come since the Summer of 2010 when I set up my blog. Bloggers are at the fore-front of fashion, with ‘higher profile’ bloggers acting as models in campaigns such as Miss Selfridge. One part of my 9-5 which I love is blogger outreach and getting to know the girls and guys behind the outfit posts. It is through blogs that I discover a must-have dress and blogs are often my first point of purchase. The fact that someones blog becomes daily reading …

Xmas in July- Press Events

So this week I got to take a work trip down to London to the Matalan Xmas collection press event. I don’t really get the chance to go down to the capital that often so I really was a tourist armed with my camera! It was great to see how retail events work, meet and chat to some of my favourite bloggers and have a sneaky peek at the clothes due into stores. Whilst I was in town I managed to get to the Argos, Missguided, Warehouse and River Island events. They were all so different but the clothing was gorgeous! Here are a couple of pics from the day and the Matalan and Argos events- Matalan The Matalan was a fantastic day, yes I’m biased I know, and it was great to see key pieces across all departments. I will post a more detailed entry over the next week but for now, here are a couple of pics. To see more footage from the event check out the Matalan blog 🙂 Argos The Argos …
