Beauty // Morning Skincare Routine

Sometimes it’s nice to strip it back and write a post about things that you like. I aint gonna lie, yep I thought about Instagram when I took this picture. Cos over there it’s all about the flat lay, right? But, basically I just wanted to take a couple of quick pictures of a few products I’m loving. And then I thought why not add this cute print and frame from one of the My Little Box’s and a cute Primark make-up bag to the shot too? But I’m really only here to talk about the three skincare products. First up is this sweet Nivea lip balm. I got it in a set for Christmas but I started using it a few weeks ago applying it when I’m doing my going-out make up. I put a thin layer on while I do the rest of my face and let it sink in before I apply my lipstick. But I also discovered my boyfriend stole it when he had dry lips last week and now apparently …

Review: Illamasqua Multi Facet Palette

In my last post I talked about how I had always been the kinda girl who strayed away from palette’s…until recently that is. To accompany my new Avon eyebrow kit, I noticed on Twitter that Illamasqua were having a 60/70% sale, so I headed over to the site to check it out. It’s here where I discovered the Multi Facet palette in Aura was on sale from £40-0dd quid down to a bargainous £13,including free delivery. Before I could hesitate, it was in the basket and on it’s way. Previously I’d only used Illamsqua nail varnishes so I thought why not give the rest of the range a go! It’s a great compact size and contains everything you need to complete your face before you head out the door. There is highlighter cream pigment in Aurora. It’s a really natural shadow, which adds a little bit of depth and detail to your cheekbones. Alongside this, there’s the contouring power, again a nice natural brown. It adds subtle definition, without making you look to Kim K-esque! …

Review: Avon Perfect Eyebrows Kit

When it comes to buying new make-up, I tend to opt for single eyeshadows, brow pencils and blushers to name but a few. However, last week I decided to mix this up, investing my first palette’s, from Illamasqua and Avon, no less. Over the last year I’ve really started to invest in my brow routine. Having never plucked, waxed or removed one single hair from my brows, combined with very blonde eyebrows, I used to just leave them alone. But, last year I got a HD Brows kit in a Glossybox and here started a new love for adding a touch of definition and colour. My beloved HD Brows kit has since come to the end of its shelf life so I started to shop around for a new alternative. And Avon came to my rescue! This kit from Avon is super-sleek and I opted for the blonde version. Designed in a cute, compact, it has a wax and blonde/brown shadow and brush, so I can easily smooth my brows into place, whilst adding colour …

Review: Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Fluid Foundation

Foundation is a staple tool in my make up collection, yet whilst I was a faithful user of Estee Lauder Double Wear for a long time, I have recently started to change my alliances and most recently, I’ve been swayed by Laura Mercier. I’ve read many reviews of the Laura Mercier smooth finish flawless fluid foundation on beauty blogs and during a trip to Liverpool on Saturday with my mum, we nipped to John Lewis and I picked up a sample to try. I was colour matched to porcelain ivory which is really light and quite similar to the Max Factor foundation I’ve been wearing recently. The MUA at the stand stated it is longwear foundation, similar to double wear and is designed to create a smooth, seamless complexion – and it does what it says on the tin! It goes on really evenly when applied over a primer and despite the sample only being a small pot, I don’t need much for even coverage. I like the heavy foundation look so I know I’m covered …

Argan Dew Hair Oil: Review

It’s been a while since I dipped my toe in the beauty blogging while, but a few weeks ago I got chatting to Argan Dew on Twitter about their products and I was really intrigued. I have really thick, dry hair that need a lot of treatments and attention on a regular basis. I get a full head of blonde highlights every 8 weeks and use heat quite often with my GHD’s so hair masks and oils are my bread and butter. Having tried L’Oreal, Tresemme and Macadamia Oil, I had high hopes for Argan Dew! I was very kindly sent the Replenshing Hair Mask and Miraculous Argan Oil to try. Using the oil of the argan nut it helps prevent skin and hair damage and designed to leave it silky and more manageable that ever. Sounds perfect right? Firstly I tried to replenishing hair mask which is designed to dry, damaged and coloureed hair… so that’s me down to a tee! I just massaged it into my hair once I had washed and conditioned with …

New Years Resolutions: Skincare

New years resolutions generally tend to be a flash in the pan- lose weight, eat healthy, join a gym etc so come the 1st Jan 2013 I decided on one I could stick to and attempt to see through to the end. I decided to give learning to drive a second attempt. Having initially began to learn when I was younger and then subsequently quit as it got a little too stressful, I decided 2013 was the year I would master heavy machinery. So how did I get on? Well its a work in progress, but 12 months and 2 failed theory tests later, I’m still working on it. But the main thing is, I’m actually starting to like it. I mean I don’t love it and sure as hell can’t see myself with my own car in the near future, but I’m still working at it which is the main thing and hopefully 2014 will be the year I pass. Maybe.  I’ll keep you posted on that one. So back to the matter at …
