Food // The Florist, Hardman Street, Liverpool

When a Pinterest worthy eatery or venue opens, there’s always the worry that what they’ve compensated for in decor, there must be some scrimping going on somewhere…either food or drinks. So, popping along to the newest Insta-worthy launch on Hardman Street, The Florist was a pleasant surprise. The decor is goals, the use of space is fab and after sampling their Sunday lunch menu over their launch weekend, it’s pretty great too. You know a venue plans to go big when their launch event takes place over two days, inviting the city’s blend of bloggers and press to sample the drinks menu and try a delicious roast dinner. I think they even said on their Instagram, the cocktails were truly tested. We headed over on Sunday afternoon to road test the roast dinner menu – beef, pork, chicken, lamb and a veggie tagine took centre stage on the menu and an assortment of sides – we opted for the creamy leek, garlic and make and carrot and turnip mash to sit alongside our beef and …

Beauty // March Favourites

I don’t know about you, but this year I’ve been waiting for the Easter break and long weekend to creep up on us. Whilst the working weeks seem to fly by, waiting months between time-off work and bank holidays seems to drag. I’ve booked some annual leave for the week after Easter, taking full advantage of the shorter working weeks. As excited as I am to hopefully receive an Easter egg or two, if you’re in the mood for treating yourself to a little shopping splurge or two, here are my New In top picks for March! Tangle Angel Brushes A good quality hairbrush is something we take for granted, but you forget how much you need one until you attempt to brush out the corkscrew curls that you decided to do the night before cos you were bored. Tangle Angel brushes don’t just look good, thanks to the gorge design but this is one sturdy brush. No need to begin cutting this one out your hair! Look Good Feel Better Make Up Brushes If …

Food // Hickory’s Smokehouse Review, Southport

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I went to check out Hickory’s Smokehouse in Southport. Opened just 5 weeks ago, the restaurant is located in the Kew area of Southport and if you’re travelling by car, is a doddle to get to. Our ears pricked up when we heard the restaurant catered to all-American dining and we were excited to peruse the menu and get stuck in! The Service and Starters We arrived at the restaurant and pulled up in the spacious car park to make our 1 o’clock lunchtime booking. The restaurant is super spacious and has lots of seating areas, perfect for families, couples or friends catching up over food and drinks. We were shown to our seats overlooking the restaurant and open grill, showcasing the large cuts of ribs and brisket brought straight from the smoker to go into the grill, as ordered. A nice welcome touch was a bag of popcorn to snack on whilst we assessed the menu, ordered drinks and decided just how indulgent we planned on being…spoiler alert, …

Review // Rumi By Bukhara, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool

Thanks to this little blog of mine, we’re very lucky ducks who have been treated to many a lovely meal, in exchange for a review. Sometimes, it’s nice but not somewhere you’d rush back for, some you have high expectations about but then it’s not all that, and then every now and again, a find like the Rumi by Bukhara comes along. Unassuming and indifferent on the outside, but the home to amazing food at very purse-friendly prices. A definite 10/10…. Rumi first hit the radar when I spotted a babble of local Liverpool bloggers in attendance late last year. Located on Mount Pleasant, just a stones throw from Central and Lime Street, we were yet to venture up there but from what I’d heard and the evidence posted on Instagram, I had a feeling it would be good. As I mentioned earlier, from the outside the unassuming eatery has a very casual, relaxed vibe and is a trio of a cafe by day, restaurant by night plus a one-stop for gelato, sundaes and waffles. …

Food // Pancake Day Recipes with ASDA

I think we’re all in agreement that Shrove Tuesday at the best thing about Easter (apart from the eggs of course…) cos it means we get to celebrate Pancake Day! Whether you’re more sweet than savoury, it doesn’t matter because any opportunity to stack them high and pile with your favourite toppings is good with me! I alternate between taking the easy option with a pancake mix shaker and perfecting my fave pancakes recipe. Making sure you’ve used the right amount of flour, milk and whisked your pancake mix to just the right consistency, is tough. The struggle is real. So, when Birkenhead Asda got in touch, asking me to review a variety of the homeware kitchen equipment to perfect my pancake making technique, whilst trying out a couple of my tried and tested toppings ahead of the big day, how could I resist? If you read my going dairy-free post, you’ll know I’m on a mission to cut dairy products from my diet, so as well reviewing two of the Tefal non-stick pans and …
