Branded Lab PR Goodie Bags

On Wednesday I headed into Manchester after work to attend the Branded Lab PR event. It was held at the gorgeous Rosylee restaurant in the Northern Quarter. I have blogged about the event here and the brands that were in attendance, but today I’m here to talk about the amazing contents of the goody bag! Us bloggers were well and truly spoilt! Packed with make-up bits from Elf, Anatomicals, Avon (who I blogged about here!), So! body sprays, Lipcote and Fake Bake to name a few! As a lifestyle blogger first and foremost, it decided to dress-up my desk with fresh flowers and my Primarni vanilla and coconut candle and get snapping! I’ve always wanted to try the Anatomicals Puffy the Eye Bag Slayer under eye patches and they lived up to the hype. The packaging is so cute and I’m a sucker for pretty toiletries and these don’t look out of place sat on my make-up table! I used the Lipcote lipstick topper on Saturday night when I was out in Manchester with the girls. It …

The truth.

I feel like it’s been such a long time since I just sat down and wrote. Wrote about my day, my week, things I’ve been up to, plans for the coming weeks, or simply just how I’m feeling. My blog started over four years ago, documenting my life in limbo between finishing university, discovering I had failed a couple of modules and not graduating “when you’re supposed to”. I feel that quoted sentence sums up my life to date and in some instances it makes me sad. Comparing myself to others isn’t something I like to do very often because where is it going to get you? But in the most part it makes me proud. Proud of me, what I have achieved since that time I didn’t graduate “when you’re supposed to” and thankful for my lovely family and friends I have gained along the way. However, whilst four years may have passed and I have steered my way through, building a career, becoming something, I find myself kind of in the same situation. Not …

Five signs you are on the wrong side of 25….

Ageing can sometimes be a struggle, but the older you get  you start to realise it’s not so bad. I mean who wants to be 21 still anyway.. The new choker trend. You remember it the first time round and rocked it well as a funky looking 10 year old at the school disco. However if you ignore it, it will go away. Jelly shoes. The item that your Mum made you wear to protect your feet on holidays in Wales, not want you should be wearing now in your twenties. Teamed with ankle socks no less. Standing at festivals. Yes, you could to be at the front and get a great view of the band, soaking up the atmosphere. But your feet hurt, its raining and taking a seat at the back is just so much more appealing. Sometimes, every now and again at festivals you just want to have a good nights sleep. Yes, you want enjoy yourself and will do, just not past 2am. You understand the satisfaction of a sunny day. …

New Years Resolutions: Skincare

New years resolutions generally tend to be a flash in the pan- lose weight, eat healthy, join a gym etc so come the 1st Jan 2013 I decided on one I could stick to and attempt to see through to the end. I decided to give learning to drive a second attempt. Having initially began to learn when I was younger and then subsequently quit as it got a little too stressful, I decided 2013 was the year I would master heavy machinery. So how did I get on? Well its a work in progress, but 12 months and 2 failed theory tests later, I’m still working on it. But the main thing is, I’m actually starting to like it. I mean I don’t love it and sure as hell can’t see myself with my own car in the near future, but I’m still working at it which is the main thing and hopefully 2014 will be the year I pass. Maybe.  I’ll keep you posted on that one. So back to the matter at …

Catfish: My dabble into the online dating world…

Having a blog means I live quite a ‘social’ life and I’m not afraid to share aspects of my life with the internet. I blog about the clothes I wear, holidays I go on and gigs, but one thing you never read about online are those who are unlucky in love.  But recently there has been a certain TV show that I have become addicted to; Catfish. And since I spend a large proportion of my day tweeting about my bus journeys to work, things I do on the weekend and my hair, hell I’ve even created it it’s own hashtag (over at #bobprobs if you interested), so I thought why not open up and write a blog entry about my private life that I don’t tend to tweet about, well unless you count that other popular hashtag #rurudoesdating; my foray into the world of online dating. I was nervous to write this blog and feel even more scared about hitting publish, but my work fam suggested at the start of all this I should …

Wear your flaws upon your sleeve

I don’t know what have come over me of late, but this post sees my third foray in the world of outfit posts, and I’m quite enjoying it. However my mother’s photography skills are less than to be desired. You see,  the objective of the event is to take outfit photos, but she thinks its an opportunity to have a play on my camera and take pictures of the kitchen, the garden, the dog, basically everything other than what I’m wearing! Sheesh. However, back to the matter at hand. One of the perks of working at Matalan is my staff discount and one of the down-falls is seeing my shopping addiction begin to get a little  out of hand. Seeing newness land  on the site begins the journey of wanting, no needing that new dress/skirt/top. This month it was these leggings. *Attractive shot of me offering ‘creative direction’ there* Let me just start by saying, I am not a leggings kinda girl. I just don’t think they suit me or flatter my figure. And I just dread …

Festival Fun

The end of the festival season always signals summer coming to end. We have been blessed with amazing weather from June right through to this coming weekend, if the weather reports are to be believed and it didn’t disappoint this past weekend went I attended V Festival in Stafford on Saturday. Myself and Natalie who blogs over at Fairytales and  Unicorns headed down early Saturday morning with a McDonalds breakfast in our bellies and the hope that the weather report of rain was untrue and the sun would make an appearance. We stayed at The Old Orleton Inn in Wellington which was a short taxi ride away from Weston Park. The hotel was lovely- gorgeously decorated twin room with a en suite. Complete with colourful décor, soft cushions on the bed, complimentary tea and coffee and a flat screen tv. The hotel had a lovely garden which would have  been perfect to relax in if we had stayed a little longer. We arrived at Weston Park at around half 11 when gates opened and made our …

Nails Ahoy

I’ve spoken about my love for nail varnish on my blog before, but it cant hurt to talk about it some more! I’m one of those girls who can’t have what I call, ‘naked nails’. Each to their own, but to me looking down and seeing nude nails is just vile. I love colour and painted nails fits into that box perfectly. I am quite loyal to a couple of brands, namely Essie and Barry M. Barry M is such a drugstore beauty; cheap and cheerful but with masses of staying power. I often favour a Barry M for my toes, but just recently a Barry M gelly green and dark green saw me through the 5 days at Glastonbury with minimal chips- ideal to hide dirty nails! Essie is a little more expensive but long-lasting and gorgeous colours. I find I have to travel to a larger Boots store to get a wider range as I seem to have bought out my local store’s stock, but they release new shades every couple of months …

Glastonbury 2013- Another year at Worthy Farm!

Glastonbury is over for another year and I have returned a broken woman. The weather was truly amazing. After becoming a little obsessed with BBC Weather prior to the festival, the sun did indeed shine and it made for a fantastic 5 days. Highlights included Dizzee Rascal, Mumford and Sons, Chase and Status and Ben Howard. However since returning home I have come down with a summer cold, (I know, what is that all about?!), so I write this from my poorly sick bed before I make my, fingers crossed, return to health and to work tomorrow! But, before I well and truly wish goodbye to Worthy Farm for another year, here is a very quick round-up from Wednesday-Sunday at what really is one of the world’s best and biggest festivals! Unfortunately I didn’t take many pictures this year, I think I enjoyed it more without trying to take the perfect picture of each band! But there we have it, Glastonbury 2013- roll on next year!

Spiedi: Reality Bites

Heidi and Spencer, Spiedi, The Pratts. Since The Hils began as a Leguna Beach spin-off show on MTv in 2003, Heida Montag and Spencer Pratt have rarely left our screens, with her down-right ridonkulous antics taking centre stage. The star of the show was of course, LC, Lauren Conrad for non-Hills fans, and her fall-out with Heidi due to her relationship with Spencer defo drew up in the ratings on both sides of the pond. Speidi Heidi was the underdog with the viewers loving to hate Spencer. As the seasons progressed, Heidi and Lauren’s frienship iced over whilst Speidi was formed. The final nail in the coffin was Spencer starting a rumour about a supposed sex tape Lauren made and the ‘cast’ distanced away from the couple. Fast forward 10 years and they are making a splash in the CBB house. Having made it through to the last day and isolating themselves away from their housemates, including X Factor’s Rylan and Claire from Steps, as Rylan so affectionatally calls her, they are determind to win over …
