Balancing Work & Play – Almost Famous Xmas Menu & Dog Walks

It’s that time of year where the big C word is starting to creep up in conversations and I’m aware that I’ve only got a couple of paydays left between now and the big day…but it also means M&S xmas sandwiches will be in meal deals soon and we all must have seen that foot-long pig in blanket that Aldi are rolling out this year *insert heart eye emoji here* But it also means for us bloggers that we continue to make the rest of the world well jeal by being invited to fancy stuff; including Almost Famous Christmas menu! So indulgent, excessive and yummy. This whopping burger had burger meat, pig in blanket, a sausage roll and loads of extra good stuff stuffed between each patty. It was defo a handful and I enjoyed every second of shoving it in my gob! I’m spending my weekends loving the nicer weather we’ve had lately. God, that must be the dullest sentence I’ve ever written. Hale village is just down the road from us and walking …

George’s Great British Kitchen, Liverpool Review

If you’re ever stumped for somewhere to eat in Liverpool and you ask a mate for recommendations, they will probs reel of a long list of restaurants and bars to visit. Whether it’s date night, getting lunch in town while shopping or just want to see where’s the latest go-to; there’s a mass of eateries in and around the city centre. George’s Great British Kitchen however, has been on my must-visit list for a while. Darren’s a high school teacher meaning impromptu date nights during term-time are a no-go zone. But when a v lovely email landed from the George’s PR team at the start of the summer hols, it was a sign. We were finally going to try the latest addition to the food scene. And we were not disappointed. Handily located near John Lewis, I met Darren off the 82 bus and we headed on in. Initially we were struck by the decor. I didn’t actually know the restaurant specialised in fish and seafood so that was a pleasant surprise. Shown to our …

Just Wings, Aigburth Road Liverpool

Since moving to South Liverpool we’ve enjoyed exploring the many different areas on our doorstep – Wooton Village is just a stones throw away, Otterspool prom is perfect for dog walks and Aigburth Road is home to Space Coffe, our new breakfast haunt and further up you’ll find Just Wings… As the name suggests, this place specialises in all things Chicken. Burgers, wings and a boat load of sides – all available in 12 different rubs or sauces for both the weaklings amongst us (hi!) and those who love to indulge in mouth-watering spicy food every now and again. We popped along on a Saturday evening before heading to LIMF in Sefton Park. Handily located, towards the top of Aigburth Road, it’s easy to get too by either bus or train. We rocked up with rumbling bellies and with a few menu recommendations in our arsenal, we got to grips with the menu. The menu may be small, but it’s certainly might. Just WingsJust Wings is part of a Merseyside chain or takeaways and the …

Food // The Florist, Hardman Street, Liverpool

When a Pinterest worthy eatery or venue opens, there’s always the worry that what they’ve compensated for in decor, there must be some scrimping going on somewhere…either food or drinks. So, popping along to the newest Insta-worthy launch on Hardman Street, The Florist was a pleasant surprise. The decor is goals, the use of space is fab and after sampling their Sunday lunch menu over their launch weekend, it’s pretty great too. You know a venue plans to go big when their launch event takes place over two days, inviting the city’s blend of bloggers and press to sample the drinks menu and try a delicious roast dinner. I think they even said on their Instagram, the cocktails were truly tested. We headed over on Sunday afternoon to road test the roast dinner menu – beef, pork, chicken, lamb and a veggie tagine took centre stage on the menu and an assortment of sides – we opted for the creamy leek, garlic and make and carrot and turnip mash to sit alongside our beef and …

Review // Rumi By Bukhara, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool

Thanks to this little blog of mine, we’re very lucky ducks who have been treated to many a lovely meal, in exchange for a review. Sometimes, it’s nice but not somewhere you’d rush back for, some you have high expectations about but then it’s not all that, and then every now and again, a find like the Rumi by Bukhara comes along. Unassuming and indifferent on the outside, but the home to amazing food at very purse-friendly prices. A definite 10/10…. Rumi first hit the radar when I spotted a babble of local Liverpool bloggers in attendance late last year. Located on Mount Pleasant, just a stones throw from Central and Lime Street, we were yet to venture up there but from what I’d heard and the evidence posted on Instagram, I had a feeling it would be good. As I mentioned earlier, from the outside the unassuming eatery has a very casual, relaxed vibe and is a trio of a cafe by day, restaurant by night plus a one-stop for gelato, sundaes and waffles. …

Review // Chy, Waterloo

Before I get into writing this post, I have a confession to make….I’ve never really been a fan of Chinese food. I much prefer to order or head to an Indian restaurant when it comes to choosing between the two. So, when the opportunity came up to head along to Chy Chinese Restaurants in Waterloo, I was slightly hesitant but decided to broaden my horizons (and please my bf who doesn’t eat Chinese food as often as he’d like) and I’m so glad I did! Chy is the third in the trio of family owned branches to open in Merseyside. Along with the two sister restaurants in the City Centre and on Lark Lane, the Waterloo eatery opened 12 months ago, and what a fantastic addition! Location Making the journey to Chy meant my first trip to Waterloo. It was super easy to get to, just 10 minutes on the train from Sandhills and located on South Road, it’s just a minutes walk from the station. And as any foodie will tell you, it’s always …

Food // Bloggers Brunch, LIV Food Market

If you’re a Bold Street regular or someone who likes to eat healthier and discover new brands to add to the weekly shop, I’m sure you’re well acquainted with the LIV Food Market, located just opposite Liverpool Central. Since it opened its doors just under a year ago, the one-stop health food shop has quite rightly built up quite a reputation in the city. Doubling up a venue to stop for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a leisurely drink between shops and a health superstore, it’s well worth a visit. I attended their Bloggers Brunch recently and wanted to chat you through my three favourite things about the brand…. ONE The food, obvs. The cafe section of the store has a very homely decor and it’s very easy to get comfy on one of the many sofas and indulge in a dish or two from the menu. We were treated to small bites from the breakfast menu. Every blogger fave made an appearance – avo on homemade, on the premises sourdough, peanut butter and banana on toast, …
