Beauty // Indeed Labs Skincare Review

I’m sure you know how much I love discovering new skincare launches and trying new products. Whilst I’m brand loyal when it comes to some products; Estee Lauder for foundation or L’Oreal for mascara for example, I think the skincare market is huge and there are so many cool brands bringing new things to the market. Indeed Labs got in touch and I was excited to explore the brand a little more and I’ve been trialling two of their skincare products for the last few weeks. The two launches -are due to launch in Boots stores this month and they’re stocked on the brand’s website too. Moisture Jelly Moisture Serum Both of the products are designed to be applied to freshly cleaned skin in the morning and once again at night. I’ve been wearing the serum as a primer underneath my make up and the moisture jelly to almost give my skin a drink at the end of the day. Using just a thin layer of each, the translucent skincare gliders into the skin. The …

Beauty // Bathroom Makeover & Evening Routine

When we bought our house, we had a plan for the majority of the rooms but our bathrooms (yep, plural!) we had no idea. Our main bathroom was a blank canvas and we’ve enjoyed looking for accessories to make it a little more homely. We were both sold on the colour scheme – white and grey. Clean, serene and calming was the vibe I had in mind and I think we’re on our way to achieving it. Whilst I do have plans to add a large mirror above the sink and more tiles along the bath, blinds and greenery from faux plants, I’m pleased with how it’s looking after just 4 weeks. Having an en-suite on the top floor with a shower means this bathroom is very zen and used mainly in the evenings when we’re getting ready for bed. I have a selection of products that I’m using currently that have either been gifted or I have received via my Birchbox subscription. So, I thought whilst I’m showing off my bathroom, I’d share the …

Beauty // Aldi Lacura Anti-wrinkle Day Cream, Review

Blog posts are few and far between around here at the moment whilst we still continue to live without the internet in our new house (thank god for free wifi on buses and trains) but it’s been so long since I’ve posted about beauty and I’ve really missed it. Not that I’ve bought many new products lately… Enter Aldi. The mecca of all things amazing. Cheap food, a fantastic middle aisle filled with gorgeous homeware and all the stuff you didn’t realise you needed. I think our entire home is 90% Aldi and I’m not mad about it. But I was yet to try the beauty and skincare products until recently… I love trying new skincare. I’m sure that nothing new if you’re a regular reader. High-end or supermarket – I’m a fan. And whilst Aldi is somewhat a dupe one-stop shop, I thought it was time to try out their skincare. Since we moved house, we’ve found our local store which I’m guessing is quite new thanks to the fab layout and huge beauty …

Men’s Grooming // Disposable vs Double Edge Razors #AD

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about men’s grooming, but as we hit the mid-way point of 2018, I’ve been planning my content for the next 6 months and this is defo a subject I want to talk more about. Especially getting my fiance (that felt weird to write…) to share his opinions about all things beards! If you are someone who chooses to shave, then you know all about the fuss of deciding which razor to buy. You stand in the shop for ages looking at all the different types with no clue what the difference is, apart from the fact that some have fancy patterns on them. So how should you decide what razor to use? I’ve been doing some research and found out about Double Edge Safety Razors, a more long-lasting solution to your shaving needs. I decided it would be worth looking at the benefits of switching shaving styles and put them in a post for anyone else who is having the same issue as me. So here it is, …

Beauty // March Favourites

I don’t know about you, but this year I’ve been waiting for the Easter break and long weekend to creep up on us. Whilst the working weeks seem to fly by, waiting months between time-off work and bank holidays seems to drag. I’ve booked some annual leave for the week after Easter, taking full advantage of the shorter working weeks. As excited as I am to hopefully receive an Easter egg or two, if you’re in the mood for treating yourself to a little shopping splurge or two, here are my New In top picks for March! Tangle Angel Brushes A good quality hairbrush is something we take for granted, but you forget how much you need one until you attempt to brush out the corkscrew curls that you decided to do the night before cos you were bored. Tangle Angel brushes don’t just look good, thanks to the gorge design but this is one sturdy brush. No need to begin cutting this one out your hair! Look Good Feel Better Make Up Brushes If …

Lifestyle // Being a Bad Friend and How To Fix It

Over the past few years, I turned into a real homebody. I find joy in having fresh flowers on my windowsill, spending a Saturday morning cleaning every corner of the house, to try and encourage spring to hurry up and I love to meal plan. Sometimes I worry if I’ve become boring. I’m massively aware that I don’t see or check in with my friends as often as I should and for that I get the guilt. The guilt that I’m a bad friend and should be around more. It doesn’t always have to be going out for drinks or food. Especially as we’re all trying to build up the savings pot for one thing or another…houses, weddings, babies. Sometimes, just catching up with friends, over a pot of tea and having a good gossip and heart-to-heart is all it takes. Especially as I spend so much time preening my home. Why not invite my closest pals over to enjoy it and sit on the newly-hoovered sofa. I mean, it won’t be free from dog …

Life // Is It Embarrassing to Rent in Your 30’s?

It’s been a while since I’ve written a ‘from the heart’ blog post around here. Without sounding too ‘Dear Diary’ this is one of those topics that I think about often, cos it’s my life. And as we all know, Instagram is the devil for making us feel like we’re not where everyone else in life is up to. Oh and comparison is the thief of joy. I’m nearly 30. Two months away, in fact. And the bf is just one month away. We rent a house. Well, we’re on our second rented property and soon to be third, as our landlord is selling. TBC as no one’s made an offer and we’re saving for a rental deposit. We’ve started viewing houses and whilst we can’t really afford to be picky, some have been less than ideal…. So, is it embarrassing to still be renting, a million miles away from the property ladder and nowhere near a house deposit in the bank? In my relationship, we differ. He wishes we were further along. I think …

Beauty // Maybelline Fit Me Foundation & Concealer

I got a Boots voucher for Christmas and where I’d normally skip down to my nearest Boots faster than you can stay ‘new make up’ this year I’m trying to be sensible so I decided to save it and only use it when I really needed to. Fast forward to the start of March and I’d run out of foundation and concealer. My everyday go-to’s has come to an end and even the old tubes of miss-match foundation knocking around in the bottom of my make up bag have been used. So, off to Boots I went and after spending a while looking at the different brands, shades and coverage options, I went with the Maybelline Fit Me foundation and concealer. I’ll be honest I haven’t seen much hype around this foundation or even recall reading any reviews, but I liked the blurb on how it’s designed for normal to oily skin and it’s a matte foundation. As I’m naturally pale, I wanted something super light and a true match to my skin tone. I’m …

Beauty // Three Haircare Product Faves

I’ve spoken before about my haircare routine and how I have a short bob and managing it, without ending up a frizzy mess is a daily struggle. So when I discover new products that do the trick and keep my hair straight, under control and not something that looks like Hagrid hair, I can’t wait to share them! Whilst some people tend to remain brand loyal to their tried and tested haircare brands, I’m a fan of switching things up and trialling new products to keep my hair looking it’s best. Especially as we reach that awkward slight-grow out stage but you’re not ready to commit to the hairdresser chair just yet…. Eco Cosmetics Hair Mousse and Hair Spray* This brand has been making a lot of noise on social media lately and I keep spotting their products popping up in amazing flat lay’s on Insta. When the team got in touch and asked if I fancy putting them to the test, I couldn’t say no.l The brand is super fun and cruelty-free, which is always a …

Beauty // Superdrug B Clay Face masks

I’m sure we’ve all spotted the hype around face masks and clay masks in particular over the last 12 months ago. Whilst the variety of green and grey masks have intrigued me, I’ve been yet to try them. Until the B Beautiful team from Superdrug got in touch… The B range is available in Superdrug and stocks make up, skincare and men’s grooming products. I also didn’t know until reading up on the brand that it’s vegan, cruelty free and targeted the skin care products at different ages so you can shop and experience the brand at any age, from your 20s to your 60s and your using the right products that you need to look after your skin. The most popular masks on the market have to be L’oreal. But, I didn’t fancy splashing out on something I didn’t know would work for my skin. The B Beautiful masks are designed to – Purify The skin Provide hydration Get rid of toxins The small sample size masks good enough for about 3 masks per …

Beauty // Protocol The Lift XL

Skincare is one of my favourite topics to feature on the blog because there’s no greater feeling than getting home from work, changing into your pj’s, taking your make up off and slathering your skin in varying bottles of moisturiser, night cream and serums. Well, it’s my fave, anyway. So, when the lovely team at Protocol got in touch asking if I’d like to trial and review their latest product launch, I was all for it. I hadn’t heard of the brand before but the product intrigued me. Described as a collagen-based serum, I was eager to get my hands on the product and see how it faired in comparison to the rest of my skincare collection. 4 Week Trial I like to test new products out over time to see how my skin reacts and if I notice any difference. As it’s quite an all-rounder product and has the promise of fast results in less than 8 hours (meaning your skin can have a visible difference in the same time of an average night’s …

Beauty // Lola Make Up Red Lipstick Review

If you’re sad, add more lipstick and attack, Coco Chanel I am such a red lipstick girl. It doesn’t matter whether I’ve been blonde, a redhead or a brunette. A red lipstick is the classic colour that you bring out for all the right occasions – date night, job interviews, Christmas parties. It’s fun, playful, sexy and shows you’re not afraid to play with colour. And whilst I’ve worked my way through the different reds – girls, we all remember purchasing our first Ruby Woo for MAC, snapping up on the Rimmel Kate Moss shades and then over the years, I’m sure we all retreat to our tried and tested. Well, I thought I had mine. Until Lola Make Up turned up on the doorstep and switched up the game. Matte red? Tick. Long-lasting? Tick. Comfortable to wear? Tick. Enter, the game changer. This is the first piece I’ve tried from Lola Make Up. Up until now, they’re a brand I’ve spotted on Instagram and shown some virtual love too, but I was yet to …

Ok, so the 14th February is fast approaching and I’ll admit, I’ve always been one of those girls who think it’s a date designed for gals. Flowers, chocolates and a cheesy AF card as easy to buy for a girl, but shopping for a guy? Whole. New. Ball Game.
