Beauty Treatments I’ve Had – It’s Ok To Talk About It

I’m not against surgery if I felt I had thought it thoroughly and had genuine reasons to improve myself in certain areas of my body. I’m a fan of a facial, a spot of dermaplaning and the odd chemical peel. If I didn’t already have huge lips, I might be swayed to add a ml here or there. So, I thought I’d share my feelings on having treatments done – Dermaplaning I’ve had an Epionce peel dermaplaning session once before and I loved the results after the treatment was complete. It was a lovely procedure and very little pain was involved. You can see the results in the images above. Removing the top latey of my skin and fully exfoliating my face, my skin felt great and I would definitely have this treatment again soon. Facials I’m quite lucky in that I’ve had multiple spa days in the last few years and had quite a few facials. My favourite treatments are from Elemis, as I love their products and how my skin feels afterward and …

Pixi V Aldi – Glow Tonic & Vitamin Wake Up Mist Dupes

If you know me, you know I’m a huge Aldi fan. Food, toiletries, home stuff, you name it, it’ll be in my house. So when I was having my weekly read of the booklet and I spotted Aldi were releasing their own glow tonic, I was intrigued… The PIXI dupe is in Aldi stores now for a bargain price of £3.99 – £14 cheaper than the real deal. But how does it differ? Well, I’ve been using the Vitamin Wake Up mist daily for the last two weeks and I’ve used the new Aldi dupe in addition for the last two days. On first impressions alone, it has a nice scent to it and doesn’t feel too harsh on the skin. It’s lightly scented without being over powering and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or stingy which can be the case of some toners. So far, so good. Using it alongside the PIXI Wake Up Mist as part of my morning skincare routine, I’m enjoying it and will continue to use and see …

Is There Still a Pressure to Wear Make Up At Work?

I love wearing make up, buying make up and reading make up reviews. Lipsticks are my fave beauty product to buy thanks to the multiple brands available both on the high street, in Boots & Superdrug to high-end brands such as Dior, NARS and Charlotte Tilbury. But when it comes to wearing a full face and lipsticks on a daily basis, is it still the norm? I work in a very casual office; think jeans and trainers in general with a smarter sense if style when client meetings take place. So, wearing a full face of make up and bright lipsticks isn’t the norm, in my workplace anyway. But, I still get up, dress how I please and apply foundation, concealer, eyeshadow and lipstick on the daily. Whilst it’s not expected and every woman I work with has a different take on how they wish to present themselves, I enjoy it. You read glossy magazines and large city-based blogs and they present officewear as being tailored suits, heels and hair and make up in place. …

Derma V10 Clay Masks Review

I love a pamper sesh and having my new dressing room space in the new house (how long can I keep calling it new after living for here three months?!) means I can take myself upstairs, now Love Island has finished for a pamper. Derma V10 is a brand I first came across a few years ago. Making their way into the buge skincare market with budget products that work just as well as slightly pricier items. Stocked in Savers and Bodycare, Derma V10 has a rather impressive range of products under their belt – skincare, body lotions and hair dye to name just a few. So when the lovely Derma V10 team got in touch asking if I’d like to review the clay masks – of course I bloody would! Derma V10 Clay Masks There’s three different clay masks to try – Red algae designed to brighten the skin Charcoal to detox Eucalyptus to purify the skin I’ve given each of the three masks a whirl when I felt my skin needed a little …

An Introduction to Soap & Glory Bodycare

I’m a long-time fan of Soap and Glory products and they’re my go-to when I fancy a pamper sesh. I read this post from I Like Tweet this morning asking if skincare is the new self-care and I couldn’t agree more. Taking the time to lock myself in the bathroom with a range of products to soak, steam and scrub leaves me feeling so refreshed. Soap and Glory is a brand that’s been in my bathroom for years. Every Christmas I hope that Darren will have taken his annual trip to Boots in an attempt to secure me the huge bumper pack of goodies at a discount price. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to be selected to join the Soap and Glory new micro-bloggers project, aptly names ‘Babes of Glory‘. Receiving just two mini’s added my never-ended and always evolving collection. Ill go on record to say that no body wash shaves your legs (and other bits…) as well as the Sugar Crush Body Wash and my small but mighty bottle of Heel …

July Birchbox Review

I’ve been subscribed to Birchbox for a good few months now and whilst, I do sometimes get bored of the familiar samples that arrive month on month; every few boxes I get to try a box full of brand new products. Welcome, July… As much as I’m a makeup fan, I love receiving hair, body and skincare products in my box. I don’t know about you, but buying shampoo, conditioner and shower gels are often a chore. The products I need to use daily/weekly but I’d rather be spending it on a new foundation or lippie. I’m yet to try these products but I’ve added them to my evening shower stash and will be trying them out over the next few weeks. Reviews in full coming soon…

Getting Engaged & Unecessary Pressure

I feel like I’ve taken a much more lax view to blogging lately. I’m enjoying sharing little snippets here and there and working with brands that I enjoy and want to share. I thought I’d check in with a little life update and to share these photos I took earlier this week. We’ve been in our new house for 8 weeks now and it’s slowly coming together. We can’t decorate just yet with it being a new build, but we’re enjoying choosing colour schemes for each room and having already got all of our furniture, we only need to buy the little things aka lampshades, curtains, rugs etc. The best bits essentially! I love having fresh flowers in the house and our bay window in the lounge is the perfect spot for a large bouquet of blooms. The lovely people over at Appleyard London got in touch recently asking if I’d like to receive one of their Purity bouquets,   I was more than happy to oblige and work with the brand. I’ve been torn on …

Beauty // BECCA Cosmetics, Glow Bar Launch

BECCA is a makeup brand I’ve admired for a good few years. I initially followed the brand for their range of highlighers, namely Champagne Pop. So, when I heard the brand was launching a makeup counter in John Lewis in L1 and had a mini launch planned, I headed along to learn a bit more about the brand and eye up the latest releases… I had always thought the brand was very similar to MAC in that sense that they’re all about heavy coverage and the full makeup look. However, talking to the senior MUA, she said the complete opposite, which was a lovely surprise! The counter offers free 15-minute mini makeover classes – I was treated to a foundation and concealer session. As I’m very pale, I didn’t want anything too different from my normal skin tone and medium coverage whilst it’s summer. Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation Trying the aqua luminous perfecting foundation in the lightest shade, it was gently buffed into my skin, following a layer of the Becca First Light Priming Filter. …

Beauty // Indeed Labs Skincare Review

I’m sure you know how much I love discovering new skincare launches and trying new products. Whilst I’m brand loyal when it comes to some products; Estee Lauder for foundation or L’Oreal for mascara for example, I think the skincare market is huge and there are so many cool brands bringing new things to the market. Indeed Labs got in touch and I was excited to explore the brand a little more and I’ve been trialling two of their skincare products for the last few weeks. The two launches -are due to launch in Boots stores this month and they’re stocked on the brand’s website too. Moisture Jelly Moisture Serum Both of the products are designed to be applied to freshly cleaned skin in the morning and once again at night. I’ve been wearing the serum as a primer underneath my make up and the moisture jelly to almost give my skin a drink at the end of the day. Using just a thin layer of each, the translucent skincare gliders into the skin. The …

Beauty // Bathroom Makeover & Evening Routine

When we bought our house, we had a plan for the majority of the rooms but our bathrooms (yep, plural!) we had no idea. Our main bathroom was a blank canvas and we’ve enjoyed looking for accessories to make it a little more homely. We were both sold on the colour scheme – white and grey. Clean, serene and calming was the vibe I had in mind and I think we’re on our way to achieving it. Whilst I do have plans to add a large mirror above the sink and more tiles along the bath, blinds and greenery from faux plants, I’m pleased with how it’s looking after just 4 weeks. Having an en-suite on the top floor with a shower means this bathroom is very zen and used mainly in the evenings when we’re getting ready for bed. I have a selection of products that I’m using currently that have either been gifted or I have received via my Birchbox subscription. So, I thought whilst I’m showing off my bathroom, I’d share the …

Beauty // Aldi Lacura Anti-wrinkle Day Cream, Review

Blog posts are few and far between around here at the moment whilst we still continue to live without the internet in our new house (thank god for free wifi on buses and trains) but it’s been so long since I’ve posted about beauty and I’ve really missed it. Not that I’ve bought many new products lately… Enter Aldi. The mecca of all things amazing. Cheap food, a fantastic middle aisle filled with gorgeous homeware and all the stuff you didn’t realise you needed. I think our entire home is 90% Aldi and I’m not mad about it. But I was yet to try the beauty and skincare products until recently… I love trying new skincare. I’m sure that nothing new if you’re a regular reader. High-end or supermarket – I’m a fan. And whilst Aldi is somewhat a dupe one-stop shop, I thought it was time to try out their skincare. Since we moved house, we’ve found our local store which I’m guessing is quite new thanks to the fab layout and huge beauty …

Men’s Grooming // Disposable vs Double Edge Razors #AD

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about men’s grooming, but as we hit the mid-way point of 2018, I’ve been planning my content for the next 6 months and this is defo a subject I want to talk more about. Especially getting my fiance (that felt weird to write…) to share his opinions about all things beards! If you are someone who chooses to shave, then you know all about the fuss of deciding which razor to buy. You stand in the shop for ages looking at all the different types with no clue what the difference is, apart from the fact that some have fancy patterns on them. So how should you decide what razor to use? I’ve been doing some research and found out about Double Edge Safety Razors, a more long-lasting solution to your shaving needs. I decided it would be worth looking at the benefits of switching shaving styles and put them in a post for anyone else who is having the same issue as me. So here it is, …

Beauty // April Cath Kidston x Birchbox Review

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed my monthly Birchbox subscription, but as a long-time fan of Cath Kidston I couldn’t not mention this one…. As usual the box include x5 beauty products – Cath Kidston hand cream Model Co Baked Highlighter BB Crean Shaving Cream Brow Gel For me, the two stand-out products from this month’s Birchbox are the Baked Highlighter and the Cath Kidston hand cream. The hand cream makes a new addition to my desk at work as it smells so lovely when applied throughout the day!

Beauty // March Favourites

I don’t know about you, but this year I’ve been waiting for the Easter break and long weekend to creep up on us. Whilst the working weeks seem to fly by, waiting months between time-off work and bank holidays seems to drag. I’ve booked some annual leave for the week after Easter, taking full advantage of the shorter working weeks. As excited as I am to hopefully receive an Easter egg or two, if you’re in the mood for treating yourself to a little shopping splurge or two, here are my New In top picks for March! Tangle Angel Brushes A good quality hairbrush is something we take for granted, but you forget how much you need one until you attempt to brush out the corkscrew curls that you decided to do the night before cos you were bored. Tangle Angel brushes don’t just look good, thanks to the gorge design but this is one sturdy brush. No need to begin cutting this one out your hair! Look Good Feel Better Make Up Brushes If …

Lifestyle // Being a Bad Friend and How To Fix It

Over the past few years, I turned into a real homebody. I find joy in having fresh flowers on my windowsill, spending a Saturday morning cleaning every corner of the house, to try and encourage spring to hurry up and I love to meal plan. Sometimes I worry if I’ve become boring. I’m massively aware that I don’t see or check in with my friends as often as I should and for that I get the guilt. The guilt that I’m a bad friend and should be around more. It doesn’t always have to be going out for drinks or food. Especially as we’re all trying to build up the savings pot for one thing or another…houses, weddings, babies. Sometimes, just catching up with friends, over a pot of tea and having a good gossip and heart-to-heart is all it takes. Especially as I spend so much time preening my home. Why not invite my closest pals over to enjoy it and sit on the newly-hoovered sofa. I mean, it won’t be free from dog …
