Albert’s Schenke, Hanover Street. Food Menu Review

Whenever a new restaurant/bar opens in Liverpool these days, it’s big businesses. Launch parties are a celebration in their own right and newbie on the block, Albert’s Shenke deserves to be celebrated!

Housed on Handover Street, nestled amongst Hanover Street Social and Salt House Tapas, Albert’s Schenke has just changed the game. Bringing apres ski vibes to the city and launching on the hottest day of the year, the event went off with a bang!

Heading along with a gaggle of Liverpool’s elite #influencers such as Daily Struggle, My Foodie Journey and Food Baby Blogs, we settled down to enjoy the atmosphere and try the menu!

Open from breakfast right through to dinner, we tried the evening service menu and oh wow, let’s just say, we were treated well.

Albert’s Schenke features the best biers and pilsners on the planet from Bavaria and Bohemia, alongside the best local craft biers from the Liverpool area. There are over 20 biers on tap, curated by the on-site bier masters.

With a choice of Bavarian dishes on offer, I opted for the following:

– Spiced Cauliflower to start. A delicious dish of crispy battered cauliflower and a nice touch with a vegan aioli on the side. A light yet super moreish dish.

– Laura from My Foodie Journey and I also shared the Hummus and Flatbread. Another vegan dish thanks to the yummy harrisa, pomegranate and grilled flatbreads. Plus the ratio of hummus to bread was spot on. Gold stars all round!

For my main, I decided when in Rome,

– Raclette Burger. Oh wow. Let’s talk burgers shall we? Ok. Cheshire beef burger, chicken liver pate, Raclette cheese, sweet onions, truffle ailoi and a brioche bun. Yep told you. At £13.95 it’s not too pricey either and it was fit. I just wished I’d subbed the skinny fries for truffle fries then my friends, that would have been a meal and a half.

The vibe was spot on, fantastic atmosphere for food or just drinks and I can’t wait to return to try more of the menu. Great to see an even split of veggie, vegan and meat dishes.

Mission Mars are the innovative team behind award-winning food and drink venues such as Albert’s Schloss, Rudy‘s Neapolitan Pizza and Gorilla. In Liverpool, they also have The Elephant in Woolton and The Viking in West Kirby.

The venue is fully open to public from Sunday 28th July, after this weekend’s ticketed launch!
