January is such a dull, depressing month and I swear payday still feels like it’s lightyears away…but this month had one glimmer of hope… An email landed in my inbox from the lovely team over at Liverpool ONE asking if we wanted to review one of the restaurants housed within the shopping centre. Of course, we bloody did!
I think sometimes Liverpool ONE can be a bit misleading in terms of the actual number of restaurants they have. Yep, there are all the usual suspects in Chavasse Park but there’s also Jamie’s Italian, Cote Bistro, I spotted a review by Becky over at Eat Liverpool (read here) and Byron Burger. We decided to head a little further out and popped along to Wahaca one Sunday afternoon for lunch.
Tucked away close to Hanover Street, it wasn’t too busy and we had a choice of seats. Spotting comfy chairs (a necessity when you’re in the mood to eat!) we settled in, ordered an excellent Pina Colada each and got stuck into the menu, with a plate of the Mexico City Veggie Nachos to share while we selected our mains!
We’re still in the pescatarian hype and we were very happy to loads of dishes on the Street Food menu were veggie, perfect! We opted to get three small plates each from the Street Food section of the menu, as it all came out as/when it was ready and we were hungry!
Each dish was completely different and full of flavour – we also ordered perfectly cos we were stuffed after our meal – the perfect choices for lunch! Our stand-out dishes, that we cannot wait to order again were the plantain tacos, cod baja tacos and the cornbread with whipped goats cheese – so moreish and delicious!
So, despite being full we had some room to look at the dessert menu;
I have nothing to say other than, SO GOOD! I would legit go back and order tacos and dessert. That’s ok, right? Oh and draaanks. Cos I’ve always got time for dranks.
There we have it, another L1 restaurant visited and reviewed. Where else would you recommend we visit?
Thank you Wahaca for having us, we loved it!
