Revs is one of those places you think of for stag do’s, hen do’s and basically the place you used to head to on a uni night out for cheap drinks and shots. Being from Wigan, Revs is one of the places that I used to go to for food and drinks, so when the Revs St Peter’s Square branch got in touch inviting me along to trial the new menu, I was ready to go with a rumbling belly…
We were invited along to review the lunch menu which compromised of a starter, main and a drink. The menu was separated into starters, sharing boards, mains, pizzas and burgers.
We chose the Street Food Crate to share to start – filled with mini beef burgers, buttermilk fried chicken strips, two slices of pepperoni pizza, BBQ dusted chunky chips and dips. It was v v enjoyable and so moreish. However, upon receiving the bill at the end, the platter wasn’t included in the lunch deal so beware if you’re ordering using the lunch offer.
It was a great shout if you craving naughty food but don’t want to go all out with a burger or a pizza.
Having indulged in the sharing crate, and we were eating on a very hot day, I opted for the superfood salad with added pulled chicken. Plus a side of onion rings. Obvs.
Portion size was great and the salad was well presented and filled me up for the evening ahead.
Darren went for a dish from the Specials menu – lobster & crab mezzaluna. A creamy crab and lobster ravioli, I stole a taste and it was delicious. Neither of us would have expected lobster on the menu in Revs so it’s clear they’re trying to change the perception of the chain and provide a varied menu.
To finish, we went for a slice of New York vanilla cheesecake each and another two drinks as part of the ‘Happy Hour’ offer on at the time.
Our bill came to £38, as we paid for the sharing starter, two sides, two desserts and two rounds of drinks ourselves. It was frustrating that the starter wasn’t included on the offer and it wasn’t mentioned at the time of placing our order.
However, if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat in a city when out for drinks or want to head to chain you trust, I would advise checking Revs out!
