I don’t know about you, but a spa day is such a welcome way to relax in my world. The last few months have been all go with lots happening; house moves, engagements and turning 30, so a day of relaxation in beautiful surroundings was certainly needed.
The Macdonald Craxton Wood hotel & spa is located on the Wirral, about half an hour from Liverpool city centre. Upon arrival, I was taken by the beautiful countryside surroundings and the calming décor. The spa and hotel are completely separate and I liked the fact that we arrived at a separate entrance, which made our visit feel special for non-hotel guests.
We were invited along to enjoy the Spring Spa Indulgence spa day, which included –
I’m quite the luxury bitch in that I’ve attended quite a few different spa days and I’m partial to a facial every now and again, so I can tell a good spa day when I see one. And, the Craxton Wood hotel and spa is certainly up there.
Arriving at 10am, prior to our 10.30am treatments, the staff were friendly and welcoming – we were given a tour of the facilities, given the option to choose our lunch and time we wished to eat and show to the changing rooms to slip into our cosies ready for a day of total relaxation.
The first order of the day was our treatments – lasting just under an hour, the facial used ELEMIS products which felt and smelt amazing and focused on cleansing the face, applying two masks to nourish the skin and with a scalp and shoulder massage included, it was the best 55 minutes I’ve spent at a spa in ages!
The beautiful weather meant we got to take full advantage of the various spaces to relax and unwind – the spa is complete with a relaxation room you can sit in once your treatments have finished, the garden room complete with fruit tea and infused water, an outdoor seating area, the various sauna and steam rooms and the huge pool. What more could you want?!
After all that relaxing and time spent feeling utterly zen, it was time for lunch! The Spring Spa Indulgence day includes a 2 course lunch and complementary glass of prosecco. Perfect!
With a choice of sandwiches, wraps and salads on the menu, then cake to polish off your lunch, we opted for the fish finger sandwich and a slice of Victoria sponge. Fresh, filling and lovely to sit and relax in the open space, overlooking the pool. My favourite part of any spa day is drinking prosecco in a robe and at Craxton Wood it’s actively encouraged!
We spotted the neighbouring tables enjoying afternoon tea – a lovely upgrade to a fab day for couples, family groups or friends.
