Beauty // BECCA Cosmetics, Glow Bar Launch

BECCA is a makeup brand I’ve admired for a good few years. I initially followed the brand for their range of highlighers, namely Champagne Pop. So, when I heard the brand was launching a makeup counter in John Lewis in L1 and had a mini launch planned, I headed along to learn a bit more about the brand and eye up the latest releases… I had always thought the brand was very similar to MAC in that sense that they’re all about heavy coverage and the full makeup look. However, talking to the senior MUA, she said the complete opposite, which was a lovely surprise! The counter offers free 15-minute mini makeover classes – I was treated to a foundation and concealer session. As I’m very pale, I didn’t want anything too different from my normal skin tone and medium coverage whilst it’s summer. Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation Trying the aqua luminous perfecting foundation in the lightest shade, it was gently buffed into my skin, following a layer of the Becca First Light Priming Filter. …

Food // Wagamama, New Mersey Retail Park

Wagamama’s is one of those restaurants that you visit time and time again, yet every time you re-remember why you enjoy it so much. Our recent move to the Speke area and South Liverpool has massively been improved, thanks to the New Mersey retail park, literally just down the road. So, when an email dropped from Waga’s invited us along to the new restaurant launch, it was a resounding Hell Yeah! Making an average Tuesday night greatly better, Darren and I went along with zero expectations, except that of us hoping to try a couple of new dishes. The lovely in-house team were super welcoming and went above & beyond to ensure we got a real Waga’s experience and left with full bellies! First up, I love the decor. With a cool, industrial vibe and varied seating options – booths, tables outside and longer benches towards the back of the restaurant, Waga’s caters for all group sizes. We also love a restaurant with an open kitchen – watching food being cooked and taken to each …

Life // May Favourites

It’s been a while since this blog had a strong beauty focus, and I mean even though I’m currently not evening wearing make-up to work, I’m letting my love for beauty and skincare products take over. Being in the new house means I love finding new corners to take photos and share on here and across on my IG. So, in the spirit of getting back to regular blog posts and creating the type of #content I want to share, here’s a handful of things, I’ve been loving lately – #BABESOFGLORY campaign Last month I was selected to join the fab Soap & Glory #babesofglory blogger campaign. Aimed at smaller, micro-influencers, I loved the idea behind it and as a long, long-time user of the brand, I thought it suited me and the posts I like to create, down to a T! I’m excited to learn more about the brand and share new launches with you! Lydia Millen x Take Flight podcast I’ve been following Lydia’s content for years now and I always look forward …

Beauty // Indeed Labs Skincare Review

I’m sure you know how much I love discovering new skincare launches and trying new products. Whilst I’m brand loyal when it comes to some products; Estee Lauder for foundation or L’Oreal for mascara for example, I think the skincare market is huge and there are so many cool brands bringing new things to the market. Indeed Labs got in touch and I was excited to explore the brand a little more and I’ve been trialling two of their skincare products for the last few weeks. The two launches -are due to launch in Boots stores this month and they’re stocked on the brand’s website too. Moisture Jelly Moisture Serum Both of the products are designed to be applied to freshly cleaned skin in the morning and once again at night. I’ve been wearing the serum as a primer underneath my make up and the moisture jelly to almost give my skin a drink at the end of the day. Using just a thin layer of each, the translucent skincare gliders into the skin. The …

Beauty // Bathroom Makeover & Evening Routine

When we bought our house, we had a plan for the majority of the rooms but our bathrooms (yep, plural!) we had no idea. Our main bathroom was a blank canvas and we’ve enjoyed looking for accessories to make it a little more homely. We were both sold on the colour scheme – white and grey. Clean, serene and calming was the vibe I had in mind and I think we’re on our way to achieving it. Whilst I do have plans to add a large mirror above the sink and more tiles along the bath, blinds and greenery from faux plants, I’m pleased with how it’s looking after just 4 weeks. Having an en-suite on the top floor with a shower means this bathroom is very zen and used mainly in the evenings when we’re getting ready for bed. I have a selection of products that I’m using currently that have either been gifted or I have received via my Birchbox subscription. So, I thought whilst I’m showing off my bathroom, I’d share the …

Spa // Macdonald Craxton Wood Spring Spa Indulgence Review

I don’t know about you, but a spa day is such a welcome way to relax in my world. The last few months have been all go with lots happening; house moves, engagements and turning 30, so a day of relaxation in beautiful surroundings was certainly needed. The Macdonald Craxton Wood hotel & spa is located on the Wirral, about half an hour from Liverpool city centre. Upon arrival, I was taken by the beautiful countryside surroundings and the calming décor. The spa and hotel are completely separate and I liked the fact that we arrived at a separate entrance, which made our visit feel special for non-hotel guests. We were invited along to enjoy the Spring Spa Indulgence spa day, which included – 55-minute ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Age Defy Facial 2-course lunch Glass of prosecco Full use of all the facilities Towels, robes and slippers I’m quite the luxury bitch in that I’ve attended quite a few different spa days and I’m partial to a facial every now and again, so I can tell a …
