Food // Titanic Hotel Christmas Preview

As we head into the final few days of September and autumn really starts to take hold, thanks to sunny fresh morning and falling leaves, is it acceptable to start to mention the C word? Well, I’m going to anyway! I’m a big fan of the festive period, but only when we enter December. Anything else feels a little too early. But when an invitation landed in my mailbox from the Titanic Hotel, inviting me to their Christmas party showcase, I couldn’t say no! It was my first visit to the elusive hotel, tucked away along the Dock road and I couldn’t wait to see what was in store! Upon entering the hotel lobby and walking through the large bar area, I was pleasantly surprised that the interiors and overall ambiance was just as lovely as I’d imagined. We made our way to the large open-plan event space, alongside the River Mersey innings, which sits alongside the hotel. The room was beautifully decorated, complete with dancers, prosecco on arrival and an array of festive table …

Fashion // The £14 Matalan Bag I’m Loving

So, it’s official. Autumn has arrived and we’re all loving it as it’s the perfect opportunity to wear boots, shop for a new coat and get cosy! But for me, the change in seasons signals my seasonal bag swap! I’m a handbag girl through and through and digging out a new handbag as the weather turns is a true signal, change is gon’ come… So, when I delved into the wardrobe recently for the quarterly switcharoo, I realised I no longer have a black cross body bag. I’m much-preferring crossbody styles at the minute and the absence of one meant a shopping trip was on the cards! Matalan is my shop of choice when I want to get something nice without spending too much but a piece that the world and his wife doesn’t own yet. This black mini tote bag was just £14 and I love the simplistic design and gold hardware. The studs on the cross body strap are a bit different and it’s big enough for everyday. So, what do I carry in my …

Beauty // Fenty Beauty, Beauty Bazaar Makeover

Along with the rest of the blogosphere, I was intrigued to check out the Fenty Beauty launch. The brand is the brainchild and namesake of Rihanna Fenty, aka Rihanna the popstar and framed for its inclusive range of shades – perfect for every woman. On the launch day, I popped over to Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool to get a closer look. After ogling over the highlighters on the MUA’s mentioned they were offering free makeover consultations to celebrate the launch, so I quickly got my name on the list! With a variety of products available, from the all-in-one primer to 40 shades of foundation, matchstix, contour sticks, Holy Grail highlighters and lip-glosses – I was sold! It’s not too bad of a price point, with the foundation selling for £26 and the packaging is really nice, in a peachy shade. Arriving at the Beauty Bazaar with a fresh face after wearing no make up to work (which actually felt quite good!), the fab MUA on the stand, didn’t catch her name, talked me through …

Life // My Gig Bucket List

I’m sure everyone has a memory box stored away somewhere, filled to the brim with old concert/gig tickets. The first concert you ever went to, those ratty old festival wristbands we can’t bear to throw out or even the tickets from bands you’ve seen with a loved one…all stored away to be reminisced about at one time or another. Whilst I was a diehard S Club fan in my younger days, my first gig was actually Green Day at the MEN Arena, back when I was about 14. I can’t believe that’s 15 years ago. Since then the box has filled up with Glastonbury tickets, T in The Park wristbands and some of my all-time favourite gigs – Lady Gaga, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Florence and The Machine and The Showhawk Duo to name just a handful. These days I don’t get to as many gigs as I’d like, thanks to the never-ending bills and what-not. That said, we did bag Liam Gallagher tickets last week for December which I’m really looking forward to. So, that’s …

Food // Liverpool Food and Drink Festival Roundup

The Liverpool Food and Drink Festival is a date that firmly sits in every scousers diary. Held twice a year, April and September in Sefton Park, it’s the best way to celebrate the cities many different restaurants and bars and get to sample the best of the rest across one weekend! We headed to Sefton Park for the Sunday sitting. Despite hearing horror stories of torrential downpours and masses of mud, we were pleasantly surprised to find it quite dry, quiet and blue skies emerging when we arrived! Now, I’ll hold my hands up and admit it’s the first time I’ve attended the festival, but it defo won’t be the last! With easy, free parking on the roads surrounding the park, we pulled up and headed on inside with rumbling tummies! The centre of the festival had been overtaken by BMW dealers, Hatfields, so as we moved around the park, checking out the different cuisines on offer, entertainment was also in sight! With popular bars such as The Alchemist, Red Door and Aperol in attendance …

Interiors // A/W Homeware Wishlist

As soon we enter September, I feel like we’re on a collective countdown to Autumn. The change in season signals slightly cooler weather, dark nights and that it’s time to make your home a little cosier. Lately, all my money goes on homeware. Forget clothes shopping; blankets, candles, cushions, and kitchenware goes straight in my basket! I had a nosey on Love The Sales, Habitat, H&M Home and The Range to see what’s in the shops. My lounge decor is very black, grey and touches of pale pink, deep purple, and silver to match. So, I’ve put together a wishlist of the pieces I’m waiting to buy as soon as payday arrives… Habitat Coloured Throw Habitat Mella Dinner Set H&M Porcelain Mug H&M Chopping Board H&M Pink Suede Tray H&M Velvet Cushion Cover The Range Candle Holder The Range Buddha Head

Beauty // August Glossybox Review

After falling off the beauty/skincare wagon over summer, September signalled a change in my bedtime routine and time to take care of both my skin and my hair. My work have recently introduced monthly #workperks and one of the options is a beauty box subscription every month…enter Glossybox! A year or so ago, I was a regular beauty box subscriber. Glossybox and then My Little Box were my chosen two and I loved the variety that arrived every month. However, I quickly realised it was an unnecessary, expensive treat (when it tots up over time) and cancelled said subscriptions. However, thanks to work, Glossybox is back in my life and I look forward to the arrival of the postie each month! Let’s kick off with the August box! The August box had a serious summer vibe to it, thanks to the cute slogan across the front and the contents inside! I was pleasantly surprised to find – Batiste Dry Shampoo Valour Ice Hair Mask Total Repair Ciate Nail Varnish Rodial Suede Lips in the shade …

Beauty // Make Up Bag Essentials

Over the summer I’ve become a shadow of my former self. In the sense that, I no longer wear foundation. As a self-confessed foundation lover, this is quite something. I’ve found myself no longer needing a heavy coverage and favouring BB cream instead. I’ve always been a foundation fan – Estee Lauder Double Wear is the ultimate bae. However, I’ve really tried to curb my spending over the last 12 months, so Superdrug offers are where my money goes. And you know what? It aint that bad! I do love high end brands but seeing as I paint my face on every day for work, I’m enjoying doing it a little bit on the cheap. As we move into autumn in the next few weeks I think I may need to step it up a notch to keep up with the changing weather, but here’s a quick round up of the items I’m loving (and using daily!) at the minute… Garnier Intensive Care Moisturiser. I’m trying to get back into a skincare regime after avoiding …
