Food // Koop, Bold Street

Recently I had half an hour to kill before I attended an event and I found myself on Bold Street with a slightly rumbling tummy. If you’re local to the city you’ll know Bold St is the place to find the latest eateries and the most tried and tested options too.

I noticed Koop is available as an option on Colu, accepting the Liverpool Pound and seeing as my app is still loaded up, I thought why not give it a whirl!
Firstly I was struck by the interiors. Quite a small, narrow restaurant with tables either side but neon signs on the wall – chicken themed obvs and an exposed kitchen so you can see the chefs cooking.

The menu has a few different options – burgers, wraps, salads and sides. I went for the chicken thigh burger and a side of sweet potato wedges.  And here’s where it went downhill. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t wowed by the food. The wedges I could have made at home. Quite easily. They weren’t crispy at all, very soft and bland.

The burger was….lets say I wasn’t impressed with the meat quality and the burger was actually too sloppy, in the sense that it fell apart in my hands and was just messy. Not the greatest.
Whilst my order of the two items plus an orange San Pellegrino came to less than a tenner, I could have had a better meal at McDonald’s.

Instagram friendly? Yes. Food? Not so much. I did think maybe I got my order wrong and a wrap would be better but I just wasn’t impressed.

What are your thoughts on Koop?
