Gousto Sicilian Chicken Linguine Review

Review // Gousto Sicilian Chicken Linguine

Moving on from posting my first recipe from the Gousto meal subscription box, I’m back with my second review. As I mentioned in my last post, the range of meals differ according to your lifestyle i.e. low calorie, vegetarian or like this one, quick & easy. Whilst pasta dishes are my go-to when I want to make a filling, yet veg-packed meal, I decided to choose a pasta recipe to expand my repertoire. So, I went with the Sicilian Chicken Linguine. The ingredients appeared simple enough, not too much technique required and it’s not very often that I make lemon-based dishes. This recipe was a lot easier to follow – plus I like the fact that the chicken arrived pre-diced so I could pop it straight into the frying pan, along with the stock cube and a pinch of salt and pepper. Similarly to the Spiced Pork Tenderloin recipe, the dish was packed with flavour and I’m looking forward to re-creating this one again soon. Involving less prep and therefore less kitchen stress, I personally …

Gousto Meal Box Recipe Review

Review // Gousto Spiced Tenderloin Pork & Peanut Sauce

I’m all for trying new recipes and expanding my cooking repoitoire. Sometimes, eating the same 5/6 meals on repeat can get pretty boring. So, when Gousto, the subscription meal service got in touch, I defo wanted to see what it’s all about! As I’m sure you’re aware, I love cooking. Getting in the kitchen after a day at work with a classic 90’s playlist on in the background is my way to unwind and relax after a day at work. But like I’ve already mentioned, finding new food inspo can be a struggle and we often eat variations of the same meals. The box appealed to me as we got to try a couple of new recipes, but didn’t have to buy lots of new ingredients that we wouldn’t use up. With 22 different recipes to choose from each on the site and a choice of vegetarian, quick and easy & low calorie recipes, Gousto can be tailored to your lifestyle. So, if you want to eat fresh but don’t want to spend the evening …

Food // Spending the Liverpool Pound at Hus

One of the many things I love about Liverpool is the vast range of independent businesses. As a city we really support our own and with so many pop ups, bars and new restaurants to try, I love ticking new eateries of the list. So when Colu, the team behind the Liverpool Pound got in touch asking if I fancied reviewing the app, I jumped at the chance! Colu, the Liverpool Pound is a simple and really easy way to pay at independent bars, shops and restaurants. It works through an app on your phone, and the idea being that the Liverpool Pound gives back to small businesses. Encouraging users to shop local, the initiative supports local businesses by ‘giving back’ in monetary value. The new Liverpool currency keeps money local and in the pockets of some of our favourite bars and eateries. When the team at Colu got in touch to see if I fancied giving it whirl, I was all ears! With over 40 businesses across the city signed up to the venture, …

Life // 5 Signs You’re in a Long-Term Relationship

I’m not sure whether I’ve ever really mentioned how Darren and I met, but it was on Tinder. We’ve been together for three years now and whilst it felt quite new back then, now it’s common practise to be on dating apps. Whether it’s Tinder or Bumble that you ‘meet’ on and you go on one date, three dates or it becomes three years, one house and one French Bulldog later, the dating world has definitely seen a shift in how people meet. One day you’re dating, go on dates and always wear matching underwear, the next you’re arguing about who’s turn it is to pay for the Friday night takeaway and buy dog food…. I thought it would be fun to put together a list of the 5 things that signal you’ve made the switch from being single to being in a long-term relationship… You no longer wear body con dresses on date nights, jeans are fine. When you live together you see every aspect of each other and whilst you want to dress …

Food // Top 5 Liverpool Eats

If you’re a regular around here then you’ll know that I like my food. Both conjuring up new recipes to try and heading into the city for dinner; so I thought I’d give you a rundown of my top 5 places to eat in Liverpool! Mowgli Having tried both branches on Bold Street and Water Street, I’m completely sold. Complete with a beautiful decor in both restaurants, a menu packed with tempting dishes and a great atmosphere, it’s perfect for those wanting to explore Indian street food. I’d say my favourite branch of the restaurant is hidden away on Water Street. From the outside, it’s rather unassuming but once you’re inside you’re greeted with beautiful foliage decor, seating areas tucked away in two’s, up above on the balcony or in the main area of the restaurant. I’d advise arriving hungry as you will wait to try a bit of everything, which coincidentally is advised. Sharing between two of us, we tucked in the chat bombs, mother butter curry, a succulent lamb dish, chicken wings, the cheese …

Blogging // 5 Ways to Transform Your Blog

Being a blogger is all fun and games until you realise this industry is now a serious business and you find yourself hustling with brands to make money and keep everything above board! My day job is in blogger outreach so I understand both sides of the spectrum, so I’ve compiled a fun helpful tips kinda post, focusing on the 5 things to remember when you want to take your blog to the next level! Spelling is everything It’s so easy to forget about spelling and grammar when you’re not really posting for a reason, other than to share your opinions on a new lipstick or a recipe you love. But when you’re collaborating with a brand or part of a bigger campaign, it’s good to remember to check your spelling and grammar. Whilst some of your readers might not care so much, brands and PR’s do, so don’t forget to double check brand names and ensure your post looks and sounds its best! SEO matters Similarly to point number one, including target keywords and …

Beauty // New In

I’m not sure if you heard as I’ve only mentioned one or two hundred times but I hosted a blog event last week. You can find out more here, but today’s post is about the contents of the goody bags!  I was lucky enough to collaborate with a handful of great brands who kindly donated products for the goody bags. So here’s my run down of the items – Instantprint were kind enough to provide postcard quotes – perfect for instagram flat lays!  White Glo teeth whitening kits are great to use at home and I can’t wait to try mine. The B for beauty range at Superdrug has a huge range of products, from make up brushes to skincare. I loved including these items in the goody bags! Style Freedom hair oil. Finding a great hair oil is a holy grail and I honestly loved this one. The feedback from the girls is great so I can’t wait to try it! Solait – Superdrug own tanning brand blew me away. From tanning mist to …

Review // Revolution Bar, Cavern Quarter, Liverpool

Revolution is one of those bars that you remember from your younger years. A variety of cocktails, sticks of multi-flavoured shots and everyone had a mate who had an elusive Revs card…meaning cheaper drinks for everyone! However, I was recently invited to one of the Vodka Revolution bars in Liverpool. Tucked away in the city’s famous Cavern Quarter and just backing onto Dale Street; I was kindly invited to sample their new cocktail menu, however, upon arrival it seems Revs are changing their ways as we were greeted with a beautifully decorated interior, marble topped tables and pretty low hanging light fittings. Once seated in our corner, watching over the seated area and having a nosey at what our fellow customers were ordering; we got stuck into the cocktail menu! Initially, we were spoilt for choice. I had a hankering for a pornstar martini, so I was happy to see one listed on the menu, but the rest was so hard to choose from! With a variety of the classic vodka, rum and gin cocktails …

Blogging // LivBloggersIgnite

So, Saturday was the big day – Liverpool Bloggers Ignite actually happened! I’ve spoken about hosting a blogging event time and time again, but back in February I decided to make it happen! After initially throwing the idea out there on social media, before I knew it I had a list of over 70 interested bloggers and then 40 who said they could make the proposed date! So, it looked like I actually had to turn this into a reality! #livbloggersignite took place on Saturday 1st April, thanks to Roja Pinchos who helped make the dream come true by providing their downstairs space, Instantprint for the branding on the day and the fabulous bloggers who turned out and made the day what it was – a success! With 4 guest speakers talking about all things WordPress, Liverpool high fashion magazine, Inspo, networking and public speaking and lastly, being a blogger in Liverpool, collaborating with brands and Liverpool Girl Geeks! Huge thanks go to – Edward Ridding Jurga Skeiryte from Inspo Magazine Jayne Croft from Future …
