Last weekend my mum and I made our annual trip down to London so naturally I had a little stalk on London food blogs that find somewhere new to eat.
We had an afternoon reservation at the Sky Garden so a morning spent exploring Shoreditch was the plan and Pizza East was our pit stop!
Pizza’s always a great shout and after a nosey at their website and Instagram I made a Saturday lunchtime reservation. I loved the interior, very industrial yet cool. I especially like it when a restaurant has cloth napkins on the table and a water glass so I could tell we were in good hands.
Once we’ ordered drinks, mimosa for me and a half carrafe of red for Mum, we checked out the menu. Normally when I see a place has mac and cheese, it’s usually my go to but surrounding tables had already ordered pizza and it looked incredible!
I went with the olive croquettes as a side, and the squash and pesto pizza for my main. Cooked on a stone baked base, it was so so good and filled me up for the afternoon.
Mum went for the carbonara brunch, bacon and perfectly poached eggs in a carbonara sauce – I didn’t get to try it but I have it on good authority it was delicious and she would have it again!
And to finish it couldn’t not try these when I spotted them on the menu….cinnamon doughnuts with a dark chocolate sauce. Everything about it was my kind of dessert!
We visited the Shoreditch branch opposite box park and it was the perfect walking distance to the Sky Garden which I’ll talk about in my next post…
