Blogging // I’m hosting a Liverpool blogger event!

I’ve wanted to host my own Blogger event for a while and after dabbling in events in my day job, I’m biting the bullet! When – April / May time Where – Liverpool city centre What’s happening? I want to host a blogger workshop about what SEO means to bloggers, working with brands and establishing great PR relationships (speaking as an outreach gal myself!) If you’re interested in coming along, let me know on twitter @ruthwritespr or leave a comment below!

Fashion // DIY Denim Jacket with Dylon

Last year and creeping into this year, the embroidered trend is big business and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I loved the embroidered denim jacket trend last year and the pastel jackets on the high street so I decided to DIY my own jacket! Luckily Dylon Fabric Dyes got in touch around the same time to see if I would be interested in a collaboration, I jumped at it! The perfect denim The tricky part was finding the perfect denim jacket.  I knew in my head what I wanted but finding it was a whole new issue! After a quick scour of the internet, read Ebay I decided to head to the charity shops in my town hoping to find the perfect one. Luckily I stumbled across this jacket on a vintage stall in the town market hall! Colour  I knew I was after a pink toned jacket so I used the shade powder pink . It was so easy to use – literally just dampen your item of clothing; and pop in the drum …

Recipe // Leek & Butternut Squash Spaghetti

It’s been a while since I’ve made a new recipe to feature on here after feeling distinctly uninspired but after a short break to the lakes, I’m back and rearing to go! In a bid to use up leftover veg in the fridge, this meal was one of those ‘chuck everything in a pan and see what happens’ kinda evenings. And I can report, it was bloody delicious! Creamy, cheesy, leeky and super garlicky, which is my kinda pasta dish! Ingredients  1 butternut squash (pre-chopped or like me, a whole one!) 1 red onion 1 red pepper 2 leeks 1 punnet of chestnut mushrooms Garlic paste Ginger paste Double cream – half a tub Low fat cream cheese Salt and pepper to season Spaghetti Once I’d tackled the butternut squash by stabbing it multiple times all over and then popping in the microwave for 6 minutes, I started the recipe! Pop your spaghetti in a pan with a pinch of salt and set on a low heat setting to gently simmer and cook whilst you make …

Fashion // Spring Florals at Aintree Retail Park

I don’t know about you but this week the seasons appear to be shifting with blue skies and sunshine making a welcome appearance. Spring appears to be en route but I’m really struggling with what to wear at the minute. You know those weeks where you hate your clothes, your hair, your figure….yep, I’m on a Debbie Downer. So Aintree Shopping Park got in touch at the right time! The shopping park is usually my go to for homeware but I wanted to invest in something to boost my mood and a piece that I can wear into the coming months.  If you know me, you’ll know I’m a handbag girl through and through. My love affair with bags began back in my teen years and I just love them. I don’t mean to sound snobby but I’m trying to update my collection and get rid of my Primark bags and cheaper bags that were bought on a whim with bags that I love, are better quality and will wear for seasons and years to …

Food // Pizza East, Shoreditch

Last weekend my mum and I made our annual trip down to London so naturally I had a little stalk on London food blogs that find somewhere new to eat. We had an afternoon reservation at the Sky Garden so a morning spent exploring Shoreditch was the plan and Pizza East was our pit stop! Pizza’s always a great shout and after a nosey at their website and Instagram I made a Saturday lunchtime reservation.  I loved the interior, very industrial yet cool. I especially like it when a restaurant has cloth napkins on the table and a water glass so I could tell we were in good hands. Once we’ ordered drinks, mimosa for me and a half carrafe of red for Mum, we checked out the menu.  Normally when I see a place has mac and cheese, it’s usually my go to but surrounding tables had already ordered pizza and it looked incredible! I went with the olive croquettes as a side, and the squash and pesto pizza for my main. Cooked on …

Beauty // In The Pink

Following on from a recent yet very rare outfit post, I’m currently loving pastels and pink in particular. In the past month, I’ve bought 2 pink coats and I’m in the process of dying a denim jacket pink so it’s safe to say…I’ve gone in heavy on the pink trend. So, I decided to put together a flat lay taking a closer look at my favourite pink beauty products. However, bar the Ted Baker nail varnish, none of these are remotely new in the slightest so I think I may write a chatty post and just have cute, pink images to accompany, if that’s ok with you? Oh, I just remembered my new Sephora eyeshadow palette is on here and this was new, at Christmas. So there’s that. But anyway, is anyone else just so happy it’s February? The doom, gloom and generally skintness of January is over and February really feels like the new year is ready to begin. Know what I mean? This month brings tres excitement for me. Firstly, I have some …

Beauty // Kiss Pearl French Tip Nails

For the last 4-5 years, I’ve really taken pride in my nails – whether that’s trips to the nail shop to get fresh shellac (which tbf is how it’s gone down for at least the last 3 years) or painting my own using my varied collection of Essie, Nails Inc and good old Barry M nail polishes. I’d go as far to say, my nails are now ‘my thing’. Whereas for a long time it was my hair when I had bright red locks, which later turned to brown and now various shades of blondes depending on how white blonde I want to be that month. But since kicking the highlights habit about 18 months ago, I like to regularly treat my nails and keep them looking on point. Generally speaking, you won’t find any nude nails here. Nope suree. Well, until these Kiss Nails in the Pearl French Tip collection entered my life approximately 5 days ago. I’m on the 4th day of wear now and I just love how they look…such a vain sentence, …
