January is the month we all attempt to eat a little healthier and reign in our eating habits…well until February anyway!
There’s a quote that’s been doing the rounds on social media – summer bodies are made in winter. And, while I’m not planning on joining a gym just yet, I do plan on making little swaps to my daily routine in aid of being a little healthier.
- Porridge for breakfast. My workplace provides free porridge with an assortment of fruit toppings, shredded coconut and raisins. I’ve been enjoying a small bowl topped with blackberries and apricot jam. Something sweet but not overly that naughty.
- Salad and soups over carb heavy lunches. I want to try and eat a little lighter in the middle of the day so I don’t get that afternoon slump and I’m hungry for my dinner by the time I get home.
- Sleep! Settling into a regular routine is really making my 6.16 alarm each morning that little bit easier. It gives structure to my day and winding down each night, reading in bed stops me from wanting a midnight snack…
- Speaking of snacks, I’m never going to be able to give up chocolate full time. I love biscuits just a little too much, but saving it as a weekend treat makes way for healthier snacks during the 9-5. These Ricola sweets are sugar-free and come in a range of different flavours making them the perfect way to swap tempting treats for something a little kinder to your waistline.
