The last 7 days have been kind of strange. I spent last weekend in beautiful Shropshire with my old work girls. Tea and cake, alfresco prosecco and lots of overdue gossip was on the agenda.
The trip came at a welcome time as it was the break I needed.
However, on Monday I lost my grandad. My hero. The man I’ve always looked up to and will never forget. We were expecting it but it’s still a shock and so sad.
The last 6 days have been a blur. Taking time off work to just breathe. Throwing my trainers on and heading out in the sunshine to take stock.
And then the week caught up with me and I got sick. Sore throat, no voice, cough that resembles a bark kinda sick. Luckily my other half has been looking after me. He’s a good un.
Death is always a strange topic. It happens daily but when it enters your world it still knocks the wind out of your sails. Makes you stop and take stock of what you’ve got and appreciate those around you.
And I’ll always miss my grandad. The one who always encouraged me to be me. And for that, I’m forever thankful.
