I’ve mentioned before how I’ve recently moved house and I’m still discovering my new stomping ground. And one thing is rather important – where I do my food shop! I love a weekly trip to the supermarket. Deciding what meals to plan that week, picking up the ingredients I’ll need. I love to make fresh meals from scratch, packed with veggies. As I’ve said before, Aldi is my favourite supermarket, as it’s cheap yet the food is fresh and the veg lasts. But I discovered a Booths has opened a mere 5 minutes from my house, so on Bank Holiday Monday I paid a visit. Booths is the holy grail of ‘nice’ supermarket. Fresh, homegrown fruit and delicious cuts of meats and cheese. Booths supermarkets can only be found up North, but if you’re ever passing one, it’s worth a visit. I picked up a couple of slabs of cheese whilst I was in – a delicious mango and ginger stilton and a cut of cranberry wensleydale. All washed down with a couple of …
2015 was the year I decided to put my all into my blog and really define what I want to talk about on my space of the internet. Having been blogging for a whopping 5 years and hitting that milestone back in June, I really enjoyed upping my content and honing in on food and beauty this year. Sometimes there’s pressure in the blogging world to do what everybody else is doing but it’s best to stay true to you. I personally love to read lifestyle blogs to discover new recipes to try and beauty blogs to find reviews on new make up I want to buy. So, because these two areas are my interest, this became my niche. It doesn’t matter whether 5 or 500 people are reading my posts, as I enjoy what I’m writing about. This year I made the conscious decision to invest in my photography. Not in the way many blogger are, by investing in an Olympus Pen, but I upgraded my point and shoot, thought about props, lighting and …
Well, Christmas was rather lovely this year. The first in our new home and time spent equally with both of our families. As we come out the other side, I’m spending some quality time on the sofa and planning lots of lovely meals to cook, bake and create in my new kitchen. But before my fridge gets newly stocked with fresh fruits and veggies, we’re enjoying polishing off the cheeseboard and have truly indulgent breakfasts whilst we’re both off work. And today was no different. After a lazy lie-in and a quick nosey in the fridge, I settled on having Brussels pate on toast. We’ve stocked up on our cupboard essentials with blackcurrant jam and lurking too. Perfect for the Sunday after Christmas!
I mentioned in my last post I’ve just moved house and my internet is yet to be switched on and whilst we settle in posts are limited, so here’s my week in pictures instead. Our new house! Discovering cute cafes in our new town New home and Christmas cards making out lounge feel homely His and hers hot chocolates When the boy asks if his lunch is Instagram worthy! Christmas meal with the girls on Friday night
Apologies for my absence around these parts but I have a good reason – my boyfriend and I moved into our first home together! It’s slowly coming together with new home cards and a twinkling Christmas tree shaping up our new living room. I’m excited to expand into home interiors and get cooking in our very own kitchen, a bloggers haven! So, whilst we find our feet, Preloved got in touch to put me to the test in repurposing a very lovely Look Fantastic beauty box. Preloved is my one-stop shop whilst I’m looking for new furniture and decorative bits without spending the earth! We’ve got lots of little trinkets to find a new home for and I’m a big fan of candles so it’s the perfect way to house my collection whilst we decide on the colour decor in each room! * I wasn’t paid for this post and the opinions are my own.

It’s been a while since I’ve baked and with Christmas fast approaching, I thought it was time to don my apron and bake a cake for the family to enjoy! Thanks to a very welcomed package from the lovely people over at Delicious Alchemy, a gluten-free food brand, I rustled up an old favourite in just 30 minutes! Victoria sponge is a popular afternoon treat in my household and it went down a storm! So much so, I’m planning on baking again next weekend! * I was gifted the baking set from the brand. Opinions are truly my own.
My boyfriend and I are currently looking for our first home together and whilst we keep scouring Right Move and booking viewings, I’ve been visiting garden centres and department stores to get some serious home inspo! Crisp white interiors with a mix of vintage and modern accessories are our thing and with an entire home to decorate it’s getting exciting!
“Always be thankful for everything you have” Butterscotch lattes on Saturday morning with my boyfriend in between house viewing GBK lamb and feta burger in Liverpool with friends before a trip to the Odeon to watch The Hunger Games Mumma’s homemade lasagne. My absolute favourite 💛 Scented candles on a Sunday night. Bliss.
It’s just around the corner…Christmas I mean and now’s the time to start thinking about making your Christmas cake. My Grandad used to make one every year, starting around the end of November so he could feed it with rum so it was full of flavour once the 25th arrived! This year I’ve decided to pick up the tradition but I’ve had a little helping hand along the way from the lovely people over at Delicious Alchemy. Known best for their delicious yet super healthy gluten-free cake mixes, I’ve kindly been gifted Christmas cake mix. So I can truly indulge in the festive spirit without having to spend hours slaving in the kitchen. Especially when preparing the family Christmas cake is such a mammoth task with lots of eyes on the end result! Watch out for a follow-up post closer to Xmas so you can see the end result! *I have not been paid for this post. All views are my own
Every now and I go on a health kick, forgoing avo and toast for a chicken salad instead. So why not enjoy a yummy chicken salad for lunch on this grey Sunday afternoon? Marinade chicken in a sachet of Nandos sauce and pop in the fridge for an hour. Fry with sweet peppers and tomatoes and then later on a plate with lettuce, baby toms, avocado and chorizo. Maybe a bit of feta to contrast the flavours. And serve. Easy peasy salad in just 20 minutes!
Cook books are my guilty pleasure. I love reading them, looking at the beautiful photos, deciding what to cook. I mean that’s probably why I write a food and lifestyle blog! These are the top 3 books on my bedside table at the minute – Not that kinda girl by Lena Dunham. I’m a massive GIRLS fan so when this got released last year, I snapped it up. Thug Kitchen. Vegan recipes packed with sass. Delicious veggies without any extra shit added. Their words not mine. Expect a couple of their recipes to pop up around these parts soon… Get the glow by Madeline Shaw. Renowned food blogger and nutritionist. Her recipes contain zero sugar but damn they taste good. I dabble with recipes from here but I love the images. So #inspo. I think this might become a regular feature around here. What do you think?
Last week we decided to treat ourselves to a school night trip to TGIs. Delicious American style food, huge portions and a lengthy cocktail menu – perfect! We visited the Liverpool branch based in the L1. We arrived at around half 8 and after a 10 minute wait at the bar, we were seated at our table. With hungry bellies we opted for a starter each before our main. The nachos and chicken wings were delicious and then I had the pulled pork burger whilst he opted for the steak, ribs and prawns combo. Safe to say we finished the lot! It may be a chain but the food is delicious, which is just what you want!
I’ve blogged in the past about my love for Primark candles. Every time I pop in I check out their homeware range. They have a great range of scents and they cost less than a fiver too so you can’t not pick a couple up everytimd you’re in a Primark store! Now the weathers turning I’m loving vanilla, cinnamon and berry scents. Perfect for the winter months!
This weekend has been food heavy with lots of delicious meals. Thursday welcomed a visit to the new Turtle Bay in Liverpool and Friday was a family meal kind of affair. So Sunday’s are always best spent at your own pace. A lazy morning in bed and a coffee catch up with old friends. Starbucks are officially kicking off Christmas with the return of red cups and I thought it’s only right to try their mulled fruit tea. I opted for the apple spiced tea, veggie festive flatbread wrap and a delicious slice of fig and cinnamon loaf. The weather may not be truly wintery yet but I’m loving mugs of hot fruity tea and kicking the red and yellow leaves underfoot. Autumn at its best!
