Hey Soul Sister

One of my favourite looks that I think is perfect for the weekend is a pair of pumps with skinny jeans or tights and a dress. I was 15 when I got my first pair of pink tartan high top Converse trainers and nearly 10 years later they are still going. Albeit the sole is splitting and the high top is folding over, but I loved them. Recently it seems Converse have made a comeback with every tom dick and harry sporting a pair as well as Keds, Toms and Vans being worn in a town/city centre near you. That said, I’m after a new pair of pumps but minus the major price tag. I know this probably makes me sound like the elderly lady down the road, but when I bought my first pair of Canvas back in the Summer of ’03, they were a lot cheaper than the current 40 quid price tag I see on the high street at the moment. However that minor grumble aside, enter Treds. I don’t really want the same …

Summer Dreaming

Long time no blog. I seem to be neglecting my blog of late, but I am trying. Honest. So, the Easter bank holiday is upon us. A lovely 5 days of work are underway and I’m off to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at The Palace in Manchester tomorrow for Good Friday with the girls and our mums, plus an Italian and drinks. How nice right? I just want the Summer and Mr Sunshine to hurry up. Seeing Jagger dancing on the Pyramid Stage in June is sure to be a highlight of my year!!

Fail-Safe Fashion Fix

Is it just me or are we seriously due some sunshine now?! The on-off again snow season and dreaded rain is making me crave a little Vitamin D in the form of sunny skies and warmer weather. This year my birthday falls on the 2nd, yes 2nd we are lucky this year, May Bank Holiday and V Fest and Glastonbury are both in the dairy and firmly booked off work, so naturally my thoughts turn to updating my wardrobe for Summer. Obvs. As a self-confessed shopaholic I am trying my hardest not to buy new clothes and wear what I already have, but no one said anything about jewellery. Now, I am alls about rings and they are part of my going-out fail-safes, but I quite like the idea of dressing up an old t-shirt with a statement necklace or wearing bold earrings when I wear my hair up. So having a little nosey on Season Online Jewellery has defo got me thinking how I spruce up my old Summer clothes without looking like I’ve …

90’s Luxe- Dungarees

Dungarees- love ’em or loathe ’em they are making a comeback and I want me so trusty denims. With Glastonbury and V Fest happening this year, I really want a pair, even though they are totally unpractical. I mean the effort of having to undress so much in dreaded festival porta-loo’s and long-drops (yes, you read that correctly…..). I honestly think it stems from being obsessed with Clueless and loving Tai and how she rocked her dungarees! So, with shorts dungarees, dresses dunagrees, pinafore dresses and the full-length style available I think when payday rolls on round I will be making a little investment out of these River Island beauties!

Ethical Fashion- Shopping on a shoestring

This weekend was one of those rare ones were you have no plans so you can just do whatever you want and so on Saturday I took myself into town to have a mooch. I seem to do the majority of my shopping online these days that I havent had a proper look around the shops in a while. I was in the mood to shop but not overly shop loads, which takes me to the point of this post. I visited the usuals on my hitlist- Topshop, River Island, H+M and the holy grail of cheapess, Primark. But two things struck me on my way round. One- I found myself in  shock at the cost of certain things and two- there were things that I liked but couldn’t justify buying. What have I become?! Let me explain. I’m still a fan of Primark but the quality just puts me off. They have a selection of dresses for a fiver. 12 months ago I would have snapped them up, but the quality was just dreadful and I thought …

Rihanna for River Island: What Women Want?

Well, it has been a while since I last posted. The truth is, I kept meaning to but then life got in the way and I forgot or just didnt have anything blog-worthy to write about. Alas, I am back and determind to rediscover my blogging space and get back into a routine of regularly writing. With it being Mother’s Day, the usual routine of card and chocolate orange-giving has taken place and now its lazy Sunday time, until I take the ma out for a meal this evening. I thought I would focus this post around the new Rihanna for River Island collection and offer my thoughts. First and foremost, I’m a Rihanna fan, a huge fan. Yes, over the past year or so she has made some crazy choices with her image, styling and one boyfriend in particular, but I continue to like her. I believe she does have her head screwed on, but is enjoying having the whole world at her fingertips at the tender age of 24. I mean if Beiber is supposedly cracking …
