My Dream Writer’s Space
When it comes to blog content, my inspiration for posts can never be pinned down to one ‘thing’. Articles I read in magazines, the newspaper, the Metro on the bus, news articles I catch on the 6 0’clock news. Conversations with friends, rediculous Facebook status updates, tweets that make me think. Having WordPress on my Blackberry is fantastic as it enables me to jot ideas down in drafts that I can always come back to later, but when it comes actually sitting down to write posts, I wish I had a desk, a study, a room to write if you will.
I’ve wanted to write for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl I asked for a typewriter for Christmas, and the day I opened it I was super excited. I re-wrote the old classics I grew up with, Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl and The Wizard of Oz. I dreamt of being an author and as I grew older that passion never faded. Studying Journalism at Uni taught me alot and working as a Copywriter, my passion begins to grow. But, back to my blog writing.
I discovered Sex and the City as a teen back in early 00’s and Carrie Bradshaw had the dream career. Writing for Vogue, lunch dates with the girls, a dream wardrobe on a freelance budget, but it was her writing space I envied. The NYC apartment, a desk, laptop, stack of glossies forever on hand for a little light reading. Perfect right?
Where to write?
So, where am I going with this? Currently I live at home with my ma, younger brother and dog, but I dream of the day I can have my own study. A warm colourful decor, cosy chair to sit in to read and a fantastic desk designed to house my laptop, magazines, notepads etc. So, naturally I like to dream shop and when I do I head straight to Interior Addict. Come on, the name says it all!
With a gorgeous collection of office furniture and beautiful lamps, shelving units and desks in fantastic shapes and colours, creating a tailor-made office space catered to you, defo just got easier. My virtual shopping list appears to be growing by the minute, however its one Miss Bradshaw herself who sums up my desire for my own space with a simple SATC quote-
“In a city like New York, with its pace and its pressures, sometimes it’s important to have a 13-year-old moment. To remember a simpler time when the best thing in life was just hanging out, listening to records and having fun with your friends. In your very own apartment”.
